    Default WF hate-tank

I've been wanting to give paladin a proper try for a while, I enjoy 2 handed fighting & I've gotten a little bored with one of my toons (a pure dex/wis based halfling monk.. much prefer my multiclassed monk builds) so I've decided: why not get the monk to cap over the next couple of weeks (currently level 16), give him the $64 million man treatment (TR him), and use him to build a paladin?

Here's a build i've come up with. Although he technically doesn't make the most of the Defender prestige enhancement line since he wont be using a shield, i figure the bonuses he WILL get from it should still make for an effective hate-tank for bosses, and equally capable of mob disposal.

I figure both of them look capable at end-game, as well as being pretty fun getting there Any thoughts?

Well, both builds are pretty different, not sure whats your goal, with the first build, without using a shield, i dont see you getting high AC for tanking, if you dont plan to get high AC then i dont see what do you want the Defender of Siberys prestige for.....
I think your best choice would be a mix of your 2 builds, a 18/2 KotC III, you should dump wis, not sure what skills you want to have int 10, but usually is a dump stat aswell, you could do:

    str 18
    dex 8
    con 16
    int 8
    wis 6
    cha 14

(still have 2 points for dex int or wis whatever you want, +2 tome and 6 from item is all the wis you need to cast)

with the +2 tome you qualify for dm II, i dont think you can fit dm III wich is a shame... but you start with 18 str that is 2 extra to damage compared with other paladins that start at 16...

Even without high AC, defender prestige is pretty tasty due to the defensive stance for boosts to damage & CON (yes i know barb rage can give boosts too, but not the handy pally spells & class abilities), and the Glorious Stand ability looks nifty too.

For KotC, I decided on Kensai rather than the 3rd tier for better general performance against a variety of enemies rather than the more intense focus against evil outsiders only.

Overall, I think im leaning more towards the KotC build though.

Of course, for something completely different I also came up with this one

You don't seem to have the easiest instant hate tank enhancment for pallies, Divine Righteousness, which doubles ur hate(200% aggro) for one minute.

I haven't met any player that can take aggro away from me while that's active or even after the minute has passed, tho most raid fights won't last long enough to see.
