Default Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting to dual-wield Rapiers

=> Thread Title: Is it worth taking the feat to dual-wield Rapiers as a Drow Rogue or is it better to stick with short swords for your off-hand? I know, I know, it depends on your template and how many feats you have to spare etc., but in general.. what would you say?

If you're using dual rapiers are you also a finesse build? If so I wouldn't see the need to grab up OTWF if you have WF for your rapiers. You can still dual rapiers and your hit should be perfectly fine without OTWF.

Try to dual wield rapiers without the feat see how often you miss. If its barable ( miss just on 2 or 3 4 is hit) Dont take the feat otherwise take it.

It really depends if your drow rogue is dex or str becouse with dex you can achive pretty nice to hit so you should not need OTWF. Be backed up with a few devine might ( or whatever the corretc name is) clickeys/scrolls which will bosst your BAB and well if even then you face a oponnent you miss a lot switch to classic rapier + shortsword combo.

A general rule i would say str based maybe, dex based no. If you take fighter levels and have extra feats again just maybe. On higher levels your hit would be pretty cool anyway. Dont expect it to work that well on epic though.

Also if you wanna dual wield rapiers on level under 10 it wont work quite well ( there is also no reason to do so)

PS: Drow rapier enchements could help

Ok, thx. I'm playing a finesse build atm and will try dual-wielding two rapiers at the later levels and see how it works out.

    Dresek's answer 3 months ago:

OTWF is a waste of a feat. With max dex and all the sneak attack enhancements and gear, you will hit every monster in the game on a 2 -- even when dual wielding rapiers.

    Dresek's answer today:

OTWF would be a good feat if you have some extra feats to spare (due to splashing monk or fighter). The higher AB would be extremely helpful in epic content and may allow you to keep Power Attack on more often.

    Short answer...

    1) If you're a full BAB class, probably not worth it to pick up OTWF.

    2) If you're not a full BAB class (you're Rogue for example), it's probably worth it especially if you're using Power Attack.

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

I'll probably be using CE instead of Power Attack, so hitting won't be my top priority anyway when I'm in CE mode. I don't really have any spare feats either, cause I'm too much in love with my SF: UMD. Maybe if I lesser reincarnate from Rgr/Rg 2/18 to F/M/Rg 1/1/18 or F/Rg 2/18 I will add it.
