    Default An idea

    I have an idea. Others may not think this is a good idea, but I like it.
    I think DDO should add a damage count. Kinda like the kill count, but instead of number of kills everyone got it would be the total amount of damage everyone did. That way all the people who focus on getting as many kills as they can will instead focus on doing as much damage as they can.

    But that is not why I would want this damage count. I want it for one thing and one thing only. Proof.

    Undeniable proof! To all the NOOBS that think rogues are only good for disabling traps and picking locks! I am NOT a trap monkey! I am a stab happy monkey that can disable traps and pick locks!

    I think that turbine should get to work on this immediately. after they make a search function for the auction house.

    I think this would be a vast improvement over kill count, but how do you implement it?

    Is it damage rolled by the PC? Or damage dealt to the mob?

    For instance: A mob is down to 50hp, and you do 100hp of damage. Does all 100 count, or just the last 50 used to finish off the mob?

    And how does DR factor in? Say the mob has DR10/Bludgeoning. You attack with rapiers and WOULD have done 100hp of damage, but you aren't geared properly so only 90hp gets through. Do you count 100 or 90?

    But really, either way would be more useful than the current "Last Swing" counter...

    I think they shoud add a damage taken count myself.



    But I would think that if your rogue has the high kill count it would be pretty obvious he was doing ther most damage.

    granted it is not quite that simple, but you do not need a damage count to prove you are doing more damage.

    how do you factor in, for example, a Tactics ftr who is stunning everything so that the rog can get all his SA? Would the damage applied to the mob AFTER the Stunning Blow was achieved count for the rog sneaking the damage in, or for the ftr who made it possible?

    How about an Intim who makes it possible for all to get free hits in? Does the damage he saves the party count towards his total?

    I know I shouldn't care, but this really bothers me, way more than it should. I know I am a hypocrite; I can't spell (I thank my lucky stars every day for spell check) and my grammar is horrible... it's just that when I see abbreviations my mind replaces it with the words.

    SO for the record:
    P.S. stands for "post script;" If you have anything to add after your P.S. it should be "P.P.S," as in "post post script," then "P.P.P.S." and so on...

    OK end rant.

    When I thought this up I was thinking of three people.

    1. The guy who cares only about the kill count.

    2. The new guy who thinks rogues are only trap monkeys.

    3. One time when I finished a quest with a group and at the end I saw that I got the most kills, me "Hey! I won the kill count. yay" the guy (guy #3) "you just stole all the kills" me "Shut up. I never win the kill count. Don't ruin my happy moment"

    Yeah, yeah, I know that I became guy #1 there for a bit but common, I was still new, and learning how to use a rogue. That kill count meant to me that I was finally learning how to kill things effectively. That was important to me.

    Really? huh, I never knew what P.S. meant. But I have seen people use P.S.S. before so I did that. However I doubt that ether P.P.S. or P.S.S. are proper.

    heheheh. The count for some of the guys I have played with would be massive.



    And a death count. A count for the total number of times you have died since you started playing.

    maybe something like /death count
