Ok, I just purchased Windows 7, question is, should I install the 64 or 32bit? Does DDO work in the 64bit mode...?

Same here, for what it's worth. Runs fantastic so far. No lag anywhere, but I've just been soloing on a lowbie so far.

I guess it really depends on what cpu you have and how much ram you have got.

No point getting 32-bit, grab the 64, I believe its the same price.
I've been running 64 with no probs, just a little freeze problem in the subterrain but that's related to my video card.
You might have some issues with some apps that were compiled strictly for 32 and won't install on 64, but most of the stuff works without any problem at all.
How much memory do you have? If you have 2 GB or less - I'd recommend the 32 bit - as you only need 64 bit for machines with more than 4 GB of memory...
Also 64 bit uses more memory (not alot - but if you have 2 GB or less it can make a difference).
While being able to address more than 4 gigs of ram is certainly one factor, there are many other advantages (and, to be fair) disadvantages.
I suggest the OP do some very simple web searches to get a better understanding of why they would install one over the other.

There is no reason to run 32-bit if your computer will support 54-bit.
That being said, as other have pointed out 64-bit will also let you use more memory as well.
And accordin to ATI/Raedeon, DDO will be getting DirectX 11 in the near future. DX 11 is only available with Windows 7. All you need to do, is wait until it comes out and upgrade your video card and/or drivers.
There are, actually. Though those are for some fairly specific situations that to probably do not apply.
Specifically: 16-bit applications are not supported on 64-bit OS. You can set up a VM to run them, but there is no native support. There may also be some driver issues with older hardware.
But, generally speaking, if you have a computer made in the last few years then you should probably go with the 64-bit OS.
