    Default (18 Rogue / 1 Ranger / 1 Bard) arcane archer / assassin

    Just another build idea, can deal death dealing blows from close up or far away depending on situation, scimitar and shield for close up

    having played a repeater rogue, the real question is why not any other class? you won't get backstab with a bow unless you are right on top of them

    this build let's me make vorpal attacks while sneaking or shooting. Just thought it would be a pretty good combination, and it doesn't seem like anyone else has tried it yet

    again, sneak attack only goes off in a certain range of the mob, so you won't be landing many vorpal strikes unless you are within melee range with your bow

    Actually it is 30ft. (Same as the qualification for point blank shot and sneak attack bonus)

    On a side note: I am curious to see if the Assassin 1 poison effects will apply on a ranged sneak attack. Please post when you find out. Could be an effective tool for disabling casters with Thoughtburn.

    According to the description of Assassin III, "any sneak attack that also counts as a vorpal strike (natural 20 followed by critical confirmation) that you make will kill most living targets." As chaoscummings said, you have to be within 30 feet to get a ranged sneak attack.

    Also, why bard instead of wizard?

    OP scimi is not a finesse weapon. Also, you might find that your AC will not be high enough to matter in any case.

    All your combat should be done within 30 ft. of the target. This means agro management will be key with the build. I would consider diplo on a build like this. It is a great mechanic for archers. That way you can grab agro from far away, diplo them off when close, and melee takes it away from you in the meanwhile. Preferably you never want to be running away from the mobs causing melee annoyance and lost dps.

    Imbue Slaying Arrows can provide vorpals at longer range as well

    Why not 2 ranger for rapidshot and bowstrength, two free feats...three if you count twf? Just for the Vorpal?

    I have a 13 rogue / 1 wizard arcane archer myself and its great fun to play.

    Problems i see with your build:

    1. You end up with 70 sp, so when you run into an antimagic field you need to drink a pot or won't be able to imbue slaying arrows anymore.

    2. You didn't even learn enough perform to use inspire courage which is quite an oversight.

    3. You have no cc skills which don't lower dps on ranged chars and help alot with survivability as well as damage output due to backstabs.

    4. You have no toughness so you are very squishy, together with point 3 this means you will have to kite to stay alive which is the sole reason so many people hate archers because its a great way to get whiped in bossfights. Get rid of one of your melee feats (they both won't work together anyways) and take toughness instead.

    Poison effects do work on range but those 30ft can be quite short depending on the direction the npc is heading to atm, might be due to lag issues or something like that.
    Assassinate unfortunately is melee weapon only.

    Hi,
    Looks interesting.
    The sneak attack for sure works with bows (tested) as well as throwing weapons, there is build of halfing thrower somewhere, which claims to be effective. You need be preatty close thou (30f.), however in practice it means just keeping second line, and is quite fun. (no running to enemies)

    Stats:
    Int 16 looks like overkill. And set str at 16.
    (that probably means no hagle)
    I would also recomend keeping str/dex more balanced. Lv ups into str, ench to dex.
    So you can ignore Finesse.

    Enchacements
    I fail my spot check on elven archery line (attack dmg), which is worth taking, at least two tiers in dmg line, much more than rogue dex III.


    Skills:
    If you keep bard for some reason, you can spend 3 sp into perform, so you can active inspire. It would be very poor inspire, but if there is no bard around why not?

    Diplomacy is quite helpfull on squishy archers.

    Class:
    I do not see point behind bard, in the same time Wizz offers mental tuffnes (+95 SP + int boni) as well as elf ench boni. And Sorc doubles sp from items. I would not count on casting, since Cl will stay low -> short duration. And you will need sp for imbue.

    Also i would consider taking two levels of ranger/fighter. For more space for feat selection.

    Im not sure how many vorpals you need, you get one from slaying arrows, do you need another from sneak attack?

    Feat selection:
    It lacks improved precise shot. Being able to shoot two at once is a major dmg boost.

    It also lacks tuffness in combinacion with low con creates deadly potion.

    This leaves you with 1 extra point, Could get explosive force arrow or Racial toughnes for 10 more hp. Another choice could be to not take conjure +5 arrows or imbue slaying arrrows and get Improve Dilletante III to get 8 points of str (not 8 str but +8 bonus from str) to your bow dmg, instead of 6.

    All stats are based off just enhancements/levels gained. No equipment or tomes.
    Conludeing Sneak attack damage is 11d6+12+600 vorpal (with imbue slaying/assassin III)
