Weapon itself does not affect the attack speed. It's your BAB ( base attack bonus ). So your attack speed is dependent on your level and certain items/spells ( i.e. haste ).

Handwraps with twf for monk is exception.

Monk using a Kama with Wind Stance will hit faster. Unless this is a tempest ranger or a level 20 fighter, then the rapier might be up there with their attack speed bonuses.

Otherwise, given the same circumstances (both weapons being used with TWF, or both used with a shield), they attack at the same speed, as all weapons do.

Well if a 18 ranger with 2 levels of monk.. tempest enhancement.. it says that twf bonus.. so wouldnt a kama and rapier both get the bonus?

is your question really which one hits faster? or is your question more related to which one does more damage?

as monksplash it might be beneficial to wield kamas if you have special weapons like vorpal or disruptor that work on non critical (per se) attacks. meaning its good to have a attack more in a set amount of time.

for everything other the rapiers > kamas by quite a margin.

Tempest bonus stacks with monk stance bonus, AFAIK (but I could easily be wrong).

The kamas would attack faster. But the rapiers would do a -lot- more damage, even losing the monk stance.

It absolutely does, Tempest and wind-stance is fast as heck. Now I needs to gets me some vorpals . . .
