Yea that's smart. I have an exploiter build already and might do that.

Can you give me a sense of the numbers in terms of gimpiness? Just theoretically, if I drop extend and toughness (just ignoring the obvious problem of dropping toughness for the moment) and pick up THF and ITHF, and spam max/emp greater shouts with a Mad Lute or with a MinII greatsword (or greataxe? which would be better?), would I do *anywhere near* the dps of max STR build?

what i was trying to say, and i think many other posters as well, pick one thing to be good at with your bard. if you want to haggle, go human max charisma. melee, go warchanter max strenth. heal go spellsinger. and go virtuoso if you want to.. um.. well dont go virtuoso (flame on!)

dispite bards label of "jack of all trades" you will truley be master of none at higher levels if you dont pick a focus and stick with it. you simply can not be a super melee/buffer/cc/healer/haggle all in one.

Well since everyone seems to be giving you the run around and not answering your question straight...I suppose I will give it a shot.

    1. If you drop extend and toughness you are going to be even less effective in melee since you are going to have 40 less HP and shorter hastes, rages, and displacements which are very important to doing DPS on a Bard as well as staying alive.

    2. THF and ITHF are pretty big feat wastes IMO. There are much better ways to spend them.

    3. Greater Shout....what can I say...Just let it go man. There is a reason there aren't any builds like this out there. Seriously how many times do you see a Bard running thru a quest owning things with any sort of shout? Maybe a soundburst in waterworks, but thats about all.

    4. No there is no way you can compare to the DPS of a Max STR build. There I said it since no one else would.

Keep in mind these are all my opinions, but they are from experience in playing Bards for a couple years. My 2pp, take it or leave it.

haha, awesome. Thanks for the straight $hit. I did find a thread though on greater shout which led me to believe that it is possible, while not optimal, possible to use it effectively for dps.

And if THF feats are worthless, then I can keep extend and toughness. Question is... do I want heighten?

Oh and by the way, I plan to make this guy a mineral II with ingredients farmed on my main. So he'll have it at lvl12. He will not be gimp on the way up. And if he's gimp at 20, fine. I'll just respec him for haggle only or I'll TR him.

will still have to get that lvl 12 BRD Shroud flagged and through the shroud to have that mineral 2.

But yeah either pick one or the other...and if you wanna do damage with a spell...maybe BRD isnt for you. Maybe try SOR/WIZ or CLR/FVS. Though I think you will like playing a HIGH STR Warchanter.

Final advice, take a human (you wont loose much on the warforge damage enhancements) and max him out on str/warchant, a human specced on DPS will out damage a warforge that wants to do too much things at once. Once capped take a LR respec to hagglebot (including all haggle feats) and get the highest possible haggle without past lives.

Well, I just lvled to 6 after an elite tangleroot run. Still haven't been able to actually run as a warchanter with some ironskin love... can't wait.

But elite tangleroot was awesome. Even as lvl 5 (it's a lvl 9 quest) my soundbursts were huge. I may have to get heighten instead of maximize...

    =)
