    Default Best of two bows?

Which bow will give me more damage

    Silver Bow
    or
+2 Holy Bursting Long Bow of Pure Good with Frost (not frost burst) added

I'm generally firing the +3 Deneth Sturdy arrows, so both bows will be +3.

Am I correct in assuming that even when an enemy has heavy fort, that the holy bursting will proc on what would normally be a critical hit, it's just that the damage will not be tripled, correct? If so, the holy bursting bow is the obvious choice for uncritable enemies. It would seem like the same would be tru for critable enemies, but the expanded crit range and the extra damage from the silver bow makes the math on this one pretty hard.

Depends on your strength and do you have a Bloodstone?

Strength is 20, dex is 32 and I'm using a bloodstone.

For 20 STR I'm not sure, the calcs in this thread were for 24 STR.

My Ranger 20 is an AA and the Silver Bow is still my main against non-crit-immune targets. With my STR buffed up to 34 the crits do over 130 on a favored enemy.

So looking at that I see this

    11. 3632 = "Silver Bow" (+3* Holy, increased dmg and expanded crit range)
    12. 3620= +3* (Axio/Anarchic/Holy) Burst of Pure Good

Those are very close. Throw in the Frost and the fact that less str favors the holy burster (because less of it's damage depends on str) and I think I can safely replace my silver bow, even for enemies you can crit. Thanks!

I'd recommend using Silver Arrows, for that effect. Personally, that's all I use, after level 12

Silver. I added the force critical ritual to it (before they made one for AA) and am using the force burst add-in from the AA. They stack folks, and it looks nasty when it goes off...

I'm not an AA ranger tho, I'm a tempest, and I don't have imp crit ranged, so I don't know how that would stack up for me. Adding the +1 force per shot to the silver bow is a good idea tho "why haven't I done this already?" and possibly also to the holy burst bow tho I hate to bind that since I intend to hand it down later
