NOT Rogue or Fighter or Ranger or any Warrior-like class. It would be a waste to use this classes for repeater.

Go Wizard. Not a joke. Thing is, that, as you said, repeater can't do much at high levels and it's also true, that at low levels there is not much difference between a fighter and wizard when it comes to "battle".

So a Wizard would be as good as Fighter at low levels. At higher levels when repeater is not so good, you'll still have a solid Wizard and not a gimped Fighter.

I say that, because thats what I did on my Warforged Wizard/Rogue. As Wizard, I also used Conjure Flame wands/spell, for extra 1d6 Fire damage. So your +1 Frost of Pure Good would be +1 Frost And Fire Of PG. A very powerfull weapon at low levels.

Worked very good. It was allmost like cheating. At mid leveles it stoped beeing so good. But no problem, thats when I got my Wall of Fire. I also found a nice Great Axe.

I'd go Wizard. Bard is also a good choice.

    Cool

It's all a matter of playstyle.
A lot of ranged rangers are capable of great melee ability too.
Repeater builds are best as rogues or fighters - you can always do ranger and keep a collection of bows to switch between.
They are weapon dependent at end game but can still make a contribution - depending on how they have been built.
Consider the trap monkey who just happens to be an awesome repeater build.

Also take into consideration that your feats are relatively easy to change over up to certain levels and with TR, even easier, you can do as you please and always switch them over later.

My only advice is to never build a toon around a weapon. Maybe over a type of weapon but not a weapon itself. The one you have there is good up to lvl 4. How many heavy repeaters have you got after that?
They are hard to come by sometimes.

Tip - Get your House D favour up as soon as you can - 150 points of D favour and you will get +3sturdy bolts. 75% of the time return to you. Very cheap way of keeping stocks up and with a decent quiver can last a good while.

I think they are underated and at low levels can be awesome. They will be dexed based - so by keeping dex at 17 or more to start you can always change and keep all the twf feats later if you need.

The downside is that you don't do a lot more damage (base ) at lvl 4 than you do at 19 !

Don't forget that if you go ranger the lvl 20 capstone works for both bows and c/bows so can be sweet too.

Try the DDO Character Planner to have a play around a bit first maybe ?

    Anyway - have fun.

I'm playing a repeater crossbow rogue build right now on Argo (lvl10 atm) and I have mixed feelings about it.
Most of the time I have top kills and she died just one time through her career, but I have to admit that it's a pain to kill skeleton undeads and elite mobs so... I don't know if I would recommend this build.
Right now she's using great crossbows (holy of pure good, paralyzing, greater banes, weakening of enfeebling etc) because they are a lot cheaper on AH than most inflactionated weapons, and I gave her even a bloodstone to increase the damage output.
Don't know...really. I'll see how she'll perform when I'll get imp. crit., imp. precise shot and assassin III, but I'm ready to swap to pure utility crossbows (imp. cursespawning, imp. destruction, wounding of puncturing and the such) if the DPS will not be good and just get her to lvl20 to TR o GR.

PS: yes, it's possible to get sneak attacks with ranged (3 sneaks in a row are really sweet btw) but you have to be very close to the enemy.

I have a lvl 20 Fighter Kensai Heavy Repeater Specialist that uses a pure positive greensteel heavy repeater. He also has a greensteel Min II melee weapon.

He works quite well for me, if I need to drag something to me to pull far away from the other members in my group for specific reasons then I can. If I am in a raid and the clerics are out of mana, plus things aren't looking too good then I can pull out the heavy repeater (and thus take less damage to myself whilst still outputting a reasonable amount of damage to the boss) and kite the boss around and even on some occassions kill the boss.

He is a 28 point build, so when I have built up a few more characters to 20th I will TR him.

The build isn't for everybody, it can be very handy in certain situations. I primarily melee but the heavy repeater is very handy. Learning aggro management is a must with this type of build.

An 18/2 Fighter/Rogue Kensei III can actually do quite a bit of damage with the right Heavy Repeater.

There's a guy on Khyber who used to tank Sulu in VoD quite regularly with it.

I think for repeaters you want at least 6 rogue so you can get your int modifier added to your damage; bow strength doesn't affect repeaters.

I have a halfling rogue mechanic named Minniegun Moneyshot. She's a blast to play. The only problem is the bug for repeaters that drops your firing rate by 1/2. I think its related to the rapid shot/ rapid reload feats because up until a certain point i never had the problem.

You can get sneak damage from your repeater but you need to be close enough and in a sneak attack situation (no aggro). You can get 60+ points of damage per shot plus stat damages in the right situations and 85% of that is your sneak attack. The trick is managing aggro and getting sneaks. I run my toon solo and in parties and its a matter of changing up your playstyle to get the most out of it.

Rogue mechanics get heavy repeaters for free at lvl12.
