    Default Fast Clerics

My first cleric was slow at everything walking jumping casting etc. . .

I want to make a Fast Cleric preferably a purebred cleric but if that is not possible please advise on multiclass combos

The goal is to be able to move, cast, run and jump with the party Should be quick at casting a fleet on the feet. My current cleric would loose a footrace to 500 lb dwarf.

So can I get some advice on a "fast cleric build"

    Default Ummm...

Well, some options for run speed:
    • 20% striding boots
    • Expeditious retreat clickies (including Anger's step boots from Korthos)
    • The Phiarlan favour trinket
Similarly, jump is easily addressed with potions and clickies.

Clerics are (generally) skill- and feat- starved, so jump skill is not going to happen.

Uhm .... some classes run faster than others (Acrobat II rogues, barbarians, monks); all others run at same speed. In order to run fast:

    - check you aren't encumbered (low STR might be the cause)
    - wear striding items (the best possible are 30% atm).

As for casting speed, only sorcerers cast faster than other classes; however, in order to cast faster than usual and avoid to be interrupted by damage, you can take Quicken feat; however, quickened spells cost more mana and Quicken doesn't affect wands and scrolls.
On Thelanis: Hallelujah (EK wraith) - Jerryrigged Juggernaut (Fiend Warlock) - Sepulchral (Druid) - Chopchopchop (Monk) - Alleyshadow (retired gimped monkcher). Formerly on Keeper : Misericordia (Thug) - Mumbo Jumbo (Battle Caster) - Infernal Can (WF Kinda Cleric) - Halleluyah (Melee Spellsinger).

    any build
    Item: Boots of Striding +30%
    Feat: Quicken

    And one of either
Friend: Ranger, Wizard or Sorceror with Jump spell, a few skillpoints, STR enhancement items
    or
Any combination of potions, clicky items with the Jump spell on them, STR enhancement items, more skillpoints in Jump

I understand from a friend that there is a cap on jump of 40. A Jump spell cast by a higher level caster can be +30. So it is fairly easy to reach maximum with only a few skillpoints and a strength item.

    There you go.

Encumbrance makes a huge difference on how well you keep up w/the rest of the party. If you are even "medium" encumbured, you will catch up w/your party after every fight - only to see them run off again. If you built your cleric w/a str of 8 or 10, don't even think about picking up that plate in the chest. IMHO, lumbering clerics are not fun. So, unless your current armor is really sweet, I'd forgo heavy armor altogether on a low str cleric. AC on a pure cleric has the same effect as their reflex saves. It's laughable, so forget it and focus on your strengths.

I will say that I think human clerics are the slowest of the lot. It seems even w/30% striders, the short, squat, 10% strider dwarf out runs them.

My main is a pure build Human Cleric.

I took the Orion Dragon Mark feats for: Expedious Retreat, D-Door and Teleport (x2 - cost 1 action pt.). I would not recommend this for newer players or non-human builds. But if you really want to travel fast, it gets no better than this.

I also switch between striding boots and jump boots when needed. I am sure that there are not many Clerics faster than me. Later on there is a great jump clickie belt which can replace you boots.

I also utilize the Pendant of time (House P Favor) when roaming in non-quest areas.

This quote in itself interests me. Cleric races? Races as in races between races.

All competitors in equal full plate, equal striders, no haste or House P pendant. No featherfall or jump items.

First to get from the Leaky Dinghy door to the Tempest Spine quest giver wins... bragging rights only.
