Tired of the ineffectiveness of Trade Channel

Just a little vent.....

I think we all agree that the idea of the Trade Channel was a decent one.....however, it is based on the having people in the game to see what you're advertising.....unfortunately there are peak and off-peak gaming times....what would be really nice to see is an extension of the auction house where you can post what you want to trade and what to expect in return.....then have a contact system via the mail....just an idea....

Unfortunately the above is exactly why the trade channel works rather poorly. In korthos and the harbour (and to a lesser extent, the marketplace), the trade channel is flooded with noobs selling garbage. This means most players with cash/tradeable items turn off trade chat and leave it off, even though in the later areas of the game you tend to get valuable items offered in the trade channel.

/Trade really needs either an area specific squelch (to turn off noob trades when you go to harbour/korthos, but allow them to come through in meridia), or possibly a level range squelch.

I find the trade channel annoying.

WTS +1 brigandine armor.
WTT +1 b.sword for +1 Mithral Chain shirt.
WTB Bloodstone 1k gold.
Blah blah blah.....

A lot of people trying to flog their junk and buy valuable stuff for next to nothing.

Unfortunately there is no perspecive in the valuation of items without grind searching the auctionhouse.
The trade channel is limited as you have to be watching it to see something come by that is worthwhile after dulling yourself to the junk. Forum trade section is sometimes are a better avenue for those good items to trade but harder to catch the players when they are actively onlie and available to trade.

Other idea's have been brought up...

A tab in the social panel for buy/sell/trade setup like the LFM tab where you could post items to buy and sell.

A consignment vendor that could list your items and offer a list of items that are wanted by prospective buyers.

An auctionhouse that is searchable..(ebay style)

Store window where you could see the item you want to buy (for those that are looking for fashion as well as function)

and I am sure there are many more..
