I am seeking like-minded individuals to form a core-group for playing regularly once or twice a week, starting from scratch (Level 1, new character created).

A word of warning: If you are not into heavy Roleplay, this thread won't interest you.


Here's my idea:

1. PLAYSTYLE

Strictly ROLEPLAY. All things are done, considered, and said in-character.
OOC talk is reduced to the absolute minimum, and marked as such.
I honestly don't see the need for any OOC talk but the occasional (( afk a min )) or for organizing times, sessions and the such.
[Edit to clarify: We are here to have fun! Everyone enjoys a good joke and a bit of OOC chit-chat before and after sessions. Just during the crawls, I think it is often immersion breaking]

The idea is to play this game as it is meant to be played, IMHO: Living the adventure and spicing it up with the tale of the characters that partake, shaping their personalities, creating a story within a story together:

- take the time to roleplay things out and follow side-stories, make things up ourselves, etc.
- don't rush mindlessly (unless it is IC)
- do everything possible to stay alive (permadeath or special death-rules are open for debate, if desired)
- the goal is not to rush through the adventures and levels,... The journey is the reward!

Characters of this group are only played during sessions together.
(Unless for organizational stuff like cleaning up inventory and the such)


2. TIMES (GMT +1, Berlin, Amsterdam)

Monday: 6:30 - 10:30 pm

3. F2P / P2P (Free-to-play / pay-to-play)

I am on a free-to-play account currently. I like the artwork, mechanics and general design of DDO, but I sourly miss roleplaying among all the OOC and L337 there is. If I manage to get a nice group going I am all open for switching to a play-to-pay account and continuing.


4. STATIC / DYNAMIC GROUP?

I think to be sure to have fun a core-group of 3 or 4 is the minimum. We could either fill the remaining slots with static members or just prowl along with the core and fill up vacant positions as we go, with new recruits that may only stay for a session, or two - or become part of the core, or whatever.

I sure hope to get this going!

I think a good idea for death-rules would be: To each his own. If you can live with dying and ressurecting... do it!
I know that I for one, get a bit of a stale taste in the mouth once I died.. so I'll most likely eat my character sheet when it starts to smell and roll a new one.

Because I really like this idea, I wanna be the first person to join this group.

As far as type of character chosen, I really see myself as a Fighter/Defender woman that is nice most of the time, but she really can't stands people that think highly of themselves or harass/segregate other people for no real reason

For time period, for the moment, I don't really have a problem with any time period. Maybe later, if I have a job, I will need to discuss my disponibilities, but for the moment I am free as the air.

And for the death rule, I prefer to mention death as being temporarily incapacitated, if I am resurrected later, of as being outnumbered, if we are all beaten. But, for specific rules, I don't really have an opinion on this.

Well, if this gets off the ground, count me in as RP is the thing that I've been missing all along. I'll be playing a rogue, that's for sure =p.

As Roleplayers are often a minority please help keep them together by starting your group on one of the old unofficial Roleplay servers Sarlona or Thelanis
Oh, and for a static groups see my thoughts here

...of course a huge influx of European players to a particular server might be an overriding factor...

Just to reiterate: The times above are suggestions for WHEN IT COULD BE DONE. We won't be playing at ALL those times.
Once a week or max. twice a week for a few hours. It's just that the "once" or "twice" and the "few hours" will have to be within the times posted in the first post. (For the simple reason that those are the times I can squeeze some regular gaming in :P )

I'm trying to set up a once a week play time with a friend. Just starting.

I'm GMT-5 though and only have a couple of hours a week.

My buddy isn't RP though.

I am. I would join a gild for RP once a week if the time was right.
