Default Half Pipe and Ice Jump

So today I decided to jump into the Ice Games stuff and got myself a pair of skates.

First I tried to do the ice Jump in the Harbor...and couldn't net a single coin. So then I go to the Bogwater Tavern to do the Halfpipe, and get one after 10 minutes.

Anyone have any methods of actually getting the coins, or it that just to be expected?

    Thanks.

There are 4 things you need to be successful.

    1) Skates. Make sure you wear them as they do you no good in a backpack or on another character. You can buy, or rent. Buying makes things faster at first, but once you get the hang of it you will be swimming in white scales and wish you hadn't wasted 100TP on them.

    2) Jump. Preferably 40. Lowbie characters can get this with house P jump buff (30mins for +20), plus a few skill points and a modest jump item. Even a 25 lets you get the purple coins, but higher gives you a better margin for error.

    3) Haste. By far your best option is the house phiarlan speed trinket, which gives you better than haste running speed in the harbour. Failing that you can invest in haste potions or get a friend to cast haste on you. Your best striders will work too, but as with jump the faster you can run the greater the margin of error.

    4) Lack of featherfalling. FF is your enemy, make sure to take it off as it makes you skip on the ramps and lose speed.

If you have the 4 above, then you can look at one of several purple coin videos on these boards to see exactly how to do it. Personally I would invest in 100 cups of cocoa (100TP from the store), as it makes practicing much faster and less frustrating. I don't think I would have had the patience to practice enough to get even one purple coin if I hadn't had the cocoa.

    ****, I think I just wasted 200 TP.

Got a whole lot of coins, but didn't get any recipes I wanted. Almost seems like a big waste of time. :/

Literally, my inventory is full of Icy Potions, recipes for Glaciation and not 99 motes. Like it's taunting me! -_-

Remember that white coins give nothing good. Blue coins are good for farming recipe 3, 4, and motes. Purples are best as you can get recipe 3, 4, 5, and about 20motes per purple turn in.

    Ahh, ok.

I got a lot of White Coins, some Blue ones and wasn't able to get any Purple at all. I suppose that's it. =\

Any tips on whether or not to run forward when I'm going down the ramp, or when to hit the jump button? I get almost to the huge group of Blue Coins, then drop into the water before I reach them.

I've been pushing forward as I go down the ramp and then jumping when I'm about to fly off.

    Other tips:
Jump so that you're falling when you land on the ramp. Like, stand on the fencepost nearby and jump from that to the ramp. You gain speed from falling fast when you land on the ramps, so that'll give you more speed.

If you're a caster, make sure you've got as much +Jump as possible. I have 0 Jump on my Sorc that I'm using for this, but with a Jump Spell for +30, a +4 Str item for +2, a Rage spell for another +1 Jump, and Heroism scrolls for +2 Jump, it really helps. I was having a hard time using just the Jump spell, but the Rage and Heroism really seems to be making a difference for me.

    Haste also helps.

My name is Cinder and I am a sorcerer. I casts the spells that make things fall down!

How does the half-pipe even work?
