I'm trying to figure out the math behind DDO's version of Smite Evil.
Looking through DnD 3.5 rules Smite Evil:
Adds your Charisma Modifier to your attack roll
Grants a damage boost equal to your paladin level

DDO's Smite Evil tool-tip states:
Gain twice your Charisma Modifer to your attack roll
Grants a damage boost equal to your paladin level

Doesn't seem to justify the 70-80 damage a 16th level paladin does and doesn't seem to make a logical sense how a critical can do upwards of 240-260 with a long sword (which is x2 multiplier).

Can anyone help enlighten how smite evil works in DDO?
I'd like to see if it can, at all, apply to table top.
