I have an 11 human pally I want to GR (when available), and although I am pretty sure what will work best, the more I read, the less sure I get.
I think I prefer twf over thf for 2 reasons: First, more weapon choices and better chance on one shot weapons (paralyzer/dps, dual smite/banish/disrupt/vorpal). Second, I don't like the idea of a substandard end game holy weapon (ie no Falchions available for making holy weapon), and I definitely like the idea of not having to craft yet another set of Min2 weapons.
+2 tomes are not an issue, but because +3's are so rare, I don't want to base my build around one as a requirement. I have too many toons, and never enough time to grind for specific gear or tomes.
I want a decent build, but since 4 or 5 other toons will probably take precedence over this one, I don't want him to be broken until I can grind out dozens of raids to find his gear.
From what I have read so far, starting stats should probably be:
str 15
dex 14
con 13
int 8
wis 8
cha 17
If I do a +2 dex, str, con, wis, and cha tome, I can take twf at 6, itwf at 12, gtwf at 15. At level 1 I would do toughness and kopesh, PA at 3, at 9 improved crit slashing, and at 18 I could do umd, FoP, or extend spell. I would take 4 levels of STR, and 1 level of Dex at 4 or 8 so I could do itwf and gtwf. The human ability would be str and con to even out those scores. I can only get to 19 base cha without a +3 cha tome, but I can live without divine might 4 if I never find one. One cha enhancement to even it out.
In the end, with just basic +6 gear, I would have:
str 28
dex 17 (maybe use spectral gloves for 22 dex)
con 22
int 8
wis 16
cha 26 (could go higher with enhancements but why)
Not the highest str or the best con for a melee, but seems like it should be able to do some dps. Is this just way too much work to get a twf pally? It would be easy to do a thf, but are the tradeoffs worth it?
Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.
