    QUESTION & ANSWER

    Q. Why did you go True Neutral?
    A.
True neutral lessens the damage you take from certain enemies, in addition it allows you to use the upgraded Death's Touch from Mindsunder (Inspired Quarter/Dreaming Dark) for +2 Necromancy Focus. Plus, you have enough UMD to use pretty much all good weapons.

    Q. Why did you go 18 CON? Isn't that expensive?
    A.
Because every HP counts, and I didn't need any other stats. Human, with a Base 8 INT allows you to max Concentration and UMD, and when you eat a +2 INT tome at level 7, you invest in Haggle as well.

    Q. I noticed you chose Spell Penetration feats, are those really necessary??
    A.
I focus on running end-game content, where spell pen makes a large difference. However, if you don't think you are going to run end-game content anytime soon, you might consider choosing the Mental Toughness feats instead.

    Q. What if I don't have a +2 INT Tome.
    A.
Follow the same instructions as a 28 point build. Start w/ 10 INT

    Q. 28 Point Build?
    A.
Read above, 16 CON, 10 INT

    Q. Why did you choose Human?
    A. I like humans, and it compliments the build. However, you can adapt this build to drow or warforged, each have unique benefits. Just remember to start with 10 INT if you got WF/Drow, or else you won't have enough Skill points.
    Human
    • +1 CHA
    • +1 Feat
    • +1 Skill/level
    • Medium HP
    • Good AP

    Drow
    • +2 CHA
    • Low HP
    • Bad AP

    Warforged
    • -2 CHA
    • EASY SELF HEALING!
    • High HP

Why did you take Spell Focus Evocation at level 6?
    A.
Evocation Focus is a pre-req for some of the Savant Prestiges. This allows you to get the SLA (Spell Like Ability) as early as possible. For example, Water Savant gets Niac's Cold ray for 2sp. Really helps leveling.

Enjoy! Post in this thread, or PM me if you have any question/comments regarding this build.

    Drow

I have a question and a comment about your comment about drow:

    • what exactly you mean by Bad AP?
    • Your medium HP human has 381 HP, my low HP drow has 367 HP. Perhaps your line between low and medium is too blur. (In fact, my TR2 drow wiz with 14 Initial Con has 407 static HP, but let's be fair use the first life for comparison)

I think what he means is that drow racial enhancements, with the exception of racial toughness, aren't great ones for casters. Keen senses, save bonuses against enchantments, dexterity, and rapier/ss enhancements aren't exactly high quality caster enhancements. Humans have the chosen stat bonuses and healing amplification along with possible 3 tiers of the toughness enhancements.

My human, at level 19, has 442 unbuffed HP, and at level 20 will gain 14 more for 457 unbuffed. Throw in rage (which is always active) for 477, and the yugoloth constitution potion for situations where hit points matter for an additional 40 at 517. That puts him at considerably more than many rogues, rangers, and other squishier tanks.

Also, if I ever pick up a +4 con tome (fat chance lol) tack on another 20 at 537. Even without it you're pretty much an indestructible engine of destruction. The OP is a 28 point build, thus losing out on the points that go from 16 to 18.

1.) What exactly you mean by Bad AP?

Compared to Humans and Warforged, Drow have the worst racial Enhancement choices for a sorcerer. While human has the best AP choices: including adaptability, versatility, healing amp.... etc, Drows don't really have many racial enhancement benefits to a sorc (Besides the +2 CHA)

2.) What do you meam by low HP?

Sorry for not clarifying.... by low HP, I mean relative to other races:
    • Drow: -2 CON, Racial Toughness II
    • Human: +1 CON, Racial Toughness III
    • Warforged: +2 CON, Racial Toughness IV

You are correct: after your character is fully equipped, it isn't a big difference.

Please post enhancements and what level to take them(for those of us who have never played a sorcerer). I am really interested in trying this out but waiting on the enhancements.

I used to post full lists of enhancements, but of course people would want to debate and discuss enhancements, but it really isn't worth anyone's time to debate the order of enhancements.

Choose what you think looks good since You can easily re-set them. I'm just going to give you a suggested list of which enhancements I think are more important.

Low level enhancements: In order of importance
    1. Fire / Cold Manipulation - directly effects your fire/cold damage spells
    2. Sorcerer Charisma - how hard your spells are to resist + max sp
    3. Human Charisma - how hard your spells are to resist + max sp
    4. Racial Toughness - extra hp = super important!
    5. Wand Mastery - ability to heal yourself with wands and scrolls
    6. Human Improved Recovery - ability to heal yourself with wands and scrolls
    7. Energy of the Dragonblood - more max sp

Enhancements that you shouldn't worry about until higher levels:
    1. Linage of Deadly Elements / Elements - crit chance and multiplier - super important high levels, not worth the enhancement points at low levels
    2. Sorcerer Improved Maximize / Empower / Heighten - increases efficiency, invest in 1 or 2 ranks at low levels.... then invest in a few more at high levels
    3. Spell Penetration - completely useless until levels 12+

Anything not listed here, isn't important.

I dunno, actually. As a new player, it seems that Lineage of Elements should be taken at low levels.

    1. The crit chance, while low, helps every now and then with SP management.

    2. What else are you going to spend that AP on at those levels?

Trust me, I'm not looking for a debate on enhancement order as I am new to the build. I am currently trying to use the D&D Character Planner to map out a build but I get so lost when it comes to enhancements, like what to get and when to open up other enhancements at optimal times. I am new to the class, and also completely new to a caster in D&D as I have always either played a rogue or a ranger. If you aren't up to putting the enhancements up on the post, please PM me them, at least giving me something to go by as a reference (if you could list them by level I would greatly appreciate it).
