Default Why Can't I Take Cleave?

Maybe I'm an idiot... maybe I don't know what is going on. This is my first char and I thoroughly love playing it. I never really thought about builds and feats and what to take when.. but I keep on reading about Frenzied Berserker and various other feats to take... but I can't. Furthermore, I see everyone taking cleave at level 6.

Problem is: I can't find cleave. I have all the Fberserker requirements, except for it

    Am I doing it wrong???

    You need Power Attack first.

Cleave is a feat, not an enhancement. You are probably looking for it in the enhancement window.

You'll get to pick new feats as you advance in level.

At what level do you get it? I just turned 12

You get a new feat at level 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18. Sounds like you just missed a chance to get it when you leveled to 12.

I'd suggest going to Fred the Mindflayer in House Jorasco, bring some gold and Siberys dragonshards. He will let you swap out feats, and you can take Cleave for any level AFTER you got Power Attack. Then if you have 6AP you can get FB I and (with the required enhancements) FB II right away.

    FBII reqs are here: http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Enhan...d_Berserker_II

EDIT: Oh, and if you haven't done it already, check out the dragonmark quest in the Marketplace with Lockania. You can see her on the map. At the end of the quest she gives you one free feat swap with Fred.

Kewl... I have the choice of swapping cleave for Power attack, improved critical slashing weapons, or greater two handed fighting.

Which should I switch for cleave, or should even or should I wait until 15 to take cleave?

It would not work to drop PA for Cleave.

You could wait, or swith GTHF for Cleave. It depends on how expensive the cost is for you, versus how fast you think you'll level. It is not really important to rush and get Cleaev at once.

Of those choices, I'd switch out GTHF. Improved Critical works well with FBII because the PrE increases the critical multiplier of your weapons while raging. Bigger crit range + bigger critical = bigger happy. Also FB I and II increase the chance of weapon effects to trigger on glancing blows.

And like A_D said, there's no worry about waiting a few more levels either. Barbs aren't lacking in power, ya know.

Then I'll wait it out... cost isn't a biggy because I did get the free trade from the mktp quest.

At the risk of sounding dumb, I can't remember ever picking a feat... it always did it for me. Are the feats different for each barb trainer? Or is it because I'm ftp?

You must have chosen a "path" at creation, which does those choices for you.

Experienced players avoid using them (and often don't even know what they contain). One would hope that the Barb paths prepare you with the prereqs for Frenzied Berserker, but apparently not...

Yep... I chose Savage of the Wild. First character, first mmorpg, first... everything and all, it made sense at the time

Oh well, maybe my next player will be better or more customized

It doesn't have to do with FTP. I'm guessing you took one of the paths at character creation. Like "Savage of the Wild." The paths automatically assign feats at the relevant levels, and the path you took wasn't designed to get you Frenzied Berserker, so it didn't give you Cleave.

Not a big deal. Next time you make a new character you can pick "Customize" instead of one of the paths -- that will let you pick all of your feats and skill points.

EDIT: Lol. I just checked the "Savage of the Wild" template on the compendium and it says you get Cleave at level 15. So no sweat.

I would suggest you take Cleave at L12 (and GHF at L15). Frenzied Berzerker I is not so great anyways, so it's not a big thing if you don't get it at L6, but tier II is pretty nice to have at L12.
