    Default Request: Ranger/rogue build for Epic VoN traps

    Can anyone do a decent rogue splashed ranger, or ranger splashed rogue capable of achieving 85 Search, 91 open lock and 70s Save versus traps?

    Don't worry about buffs and resources, go all out, +4 tomes, Epic equips, triple TRs, a third splash, bard buffs, pots, greensteel, monk buffs, even litany of the dead... Use anything, the important thing is to find the best balance between overall DPS and Extreme trapmonkery

    I have a feeling that Dwarves with the Mark of warding are the best race for the job, but i never got far with rogues or rangers to know all the ins and outs.

    Summary:
    Elf, Rogue 12 / Ranger 6 / Paladin 2. Paladin 2 for the reflex saves is just really hard to give up. And with Int/Dex/Cha being the 3 important stats, it'd be worth considering Drow as well. I've gone over your targets so you can choose where to prune and modify.

    Any good ranger with a rogue level should have the UMD to throw raise deads or even resurrection scrolls to help the party get through that trap.

    It is silly to make a build that is useful .1% of the game, and sub-par the other 99.9%.
    A handful of people are Greater Re-incarnating their shelved rogues into Von5 trap monkies.... so I wouldn't level up a rogue for that purpose.

    This is right up my alley; squeezing the most out of mediocre builds . Here's a rough draft, with only +2 tomes. I haven't gone thru the save calculations. It might be tough getting to 70. He should have enough skill points to keep search. dd, and ol maxxed. With gear he should hit the search, dd, and ol targets. All that and still decent damage potential.

    There was a Warforged 7wiz/6ranger/6rogue build somewhere wasn't it? I wonder what numbers that build could reach, because it was very consistent and flexible.
    But maybe it wouldn't get close without dwarven benefits

    I suspect that a level 19 is going to have a pretty bad time with that trap regardless of its disable device dc.

    Oh yeah, another level of rogue would add one more Sneak attack die, not bad at all.

    HOLY KRUD! i <3 the way you are showing how redonculous the dc is. unless they are planning on giving us some serious trap item loving or whatnot, then jeeeze

    btw you could always sac ic pierce for investigator (+2 search/gather info), assuming ddo has it, i haven't particuarly looked but it's possible? can anyone confirm/deny this?

    Hey Krud

    In your notes you say "with one Rogue PL to get 14 CHA" ... If that's the assumption, swap Skill Focus: Search for Sneak of Shadows; drops the search DC to 82 (which you have listed as the target :-D ) plus you get the boost to the other skills by 1, and the move/hide or damage boost.

    That gets your disable one closer as well.

    Also, you didn't include ship buffs; that's +1 from stat increases in most. Should put disable at 86; not quite a guaranteed non-blow.
