A strange series of in-game problems

I am posting this for a friend who is also having troubles setting up a forum account. He has been having problems with not being able to move in-game. I'll let his description do most of the work. Although I warn you, it is a massive wall of text.

"Lets start with what happened. I was on my paladin, jumping over to sunny side Korthos island to sort out some quests, everything loaded perfectly then. One of the quests I went to go do was Misery's Peak on hard. The explorable area loaded fine. So did Misery's Peak.

Problems started to arise when I went back to Korthos Island. The game didn't seem to load. Sure, it got past the loading screen, but my character couldn't move. After waiting for a few minutes, everyone else around me started to move. I tried to move again and couldn't. For some reason, all I could do was turn in place and jump. Another five minutes later, my character finally decided to move. At that point, another problem arose. I couldn't initiate dialogue with my trainer, the person to get me to Stormreach, or go into the explorable area.

At that point, I logged out and tried to log back into the game. The launcher started, got stuck on “Opening main form” for about 4 minutes, and got to the login screen. However, I couldn't type in my username and password and the news would not load. The launcher also refused to close until I restarted my computer. After the restart, the launcher got to the login screen and launched fine.

I tried to get back on my paladin. The moment the game loaded, the same problem happened (couldn't move for 10 minutes, couldn't talk to NPCs, etc.) The game seemed to quit just fine though. I tried to get on my cleric at this point, being confused and annoyed. Joined up with a few friends of mine to go run around the Searing Heights. It dawned on us that we needed the feather fall capes from Korthos to get our last exploration point. Fearing another character getting stuck on Korthos Island, they agreed that we should get it later.

Forty-five minutes of fire elemental smashing later, were back in the marketplace. I decide to run to the local tavern next to the bank to quickly restore my spell points with a nice lemonade. The moment I got in though, I suffered the same problem as I did on my paladin on Korthos. At this time, I quit the game and typed up this bug report.

This is a recent problem. I don't know what could be even causing it to be quite honest. I'm going to try reinstalling at the time of this post. This may take a while since I get poor download rates from the turbine download manager (like everyone else I know)."

Something I should also mention as one of said friends who saw what happened, when we went into the tavern, I saw him being able to spin around. When he moved, he would get stuck in a running animation when he stood still.
