Exclamation connection failed: there was a error in this connection

ok i have all but decided to delete this game from my computer, if i can not get it to work. i have been trying to get it 3 jan 2010. i have uninststalled and reinstalled it 3 times with the same results. i have been thru all the post and they tell me to do the same thing. my computer is up to date with all drivers and directx. i have also done all the firewall suggestions. it would also be nice to to be able to talk to a live person so if there is a number to call that would be great.

Did you read this one in the FAQ's?

    Connection error: this connection failed

These errors can be caused by many things. The most common being DirectX not being updated to the latest version which is 9.0c and your video card driver not being updated to the latest version. Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX installed; you can download the latest version from Microsoft's web site.

For the latest video card drivers, find the manufacturer of your video card and go to their web site where you can download the latest drivers.

Two files will need to be permitted within firewall software for Dungeons and Dragons Online. The two files are dndclient.exe and dndlauncher.exe. Both of the files need to have full permission in the firewall to access the servers. After a patch you may be required to remove and re-enter both files from your firewall approved programs list. For assistance with configuring your software firewall, please contact the manufacturer. We have listed some of the major software firewall providers below for your convenience.

    Zone Alarm:
    http://www.zonealarm.com/
    Norton/Symantec
    http://www.symantec.com/index.htm
    McAfee
    http://www.mcafee.com/
    Windows Service Pack 2 Firewall
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/default.mspx

I bolded the part about the patch in the firewall (which was released on the 3rd) but since its white, its in the last paragraph.

The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

    Default Same Boat

I have done everything you said plus a few others... would be nice if some one would address this problem. I have an open ticket going but so far all they have done is ask for my computer info... Is getting very frustrating. Don't have the proxy enabled.. Tried compatibility.. reinstalled chipset drivers...run as administrator. Can't even get it to download...even tried downloading from fileplanet. Same thing no connection with this game only... everything else works fine. This is a windows 7 64 bit. Good luck. Hope we get it solved this week.

I have the exact same problem. I was able to log in not too long ago, and now I get the 'a connection attempt failed' error.

I can successfully connect to every other MMO I have (WoW/LotRO/Aion), but not DDO.
