This is a party game, why does everyone have to solo snowy Korthos then come back and do it for favor in a sunny party?

If you skip the tutorial you end up on Sunnyside
Occasionally playing on Cannith
Llyren, Kelda and some others.
Because solo-ing korthos is 100x faster then waiting for group member to find and get to the quests.

The sad truth of it is, its because there are 2 very distinct groups on Korthos. You have alot of "vets" or even newbs that have rerolled toons and have an idea of the game mechanics, on the other hand you have alot of brand new players that don't have even the slightest idea as to what DDO is yet.
For someone returning to Korthos, you want your xp as fast as you can get it to get some AP's and even levels on your toon to improve him. With the brand new player base there trying to learn the game, this can be difficult.
I was forced to solo alot on my TR toon on Korthos, as trying to party, I found plenty of people that didn't heal because they didn't know to drag their spells to the task bar, hot to hotbar items causing them to stop mid-fight to drink a heal pot or whatever, or any number of other problems. I did try to help some of them out by explaining things, but it gets redundant after doing it over and over.
Not against the brand new players, but with most of them being on Korthos, we tend to avoid them so they can learn the game.

Because it is very difficult to get a group that is on the exaxct part you are.
I really wish they would free up the story line in Khorthos.
It's almost as annoying to comeback and do it later.
So it is easier just to solo the required quest in order. Then group up later when you can do any of the quests at any time.
But yeah, I now skip Snowy Korthos completely. And go join a group in the Harbor where it doesn't matter what quest I've done or not done.
If the devs wanted grouping to work in Korthos, they would add an option allowing high-level players to load in on pregenerated rogue or cleric at level 1-2.
There are many players who are fairly bored and would be happy to group with someone around Korthos. But they no longer have characters of the appropriate level.
You also have to remember that while DDO is more oriented toward parties, sometimes you're just in the mood to solo for whatever reason. Maybe you're watching TV and not really paying attention, maybe you just don't want to commit to a group, maybe you AFK a lot for whatever reason, etc. And Korthos is pretty much the only place that accommodates that kind of play style.
I solo it because it's faster then PUGing - and remains that way through much of the early levels of the game nowadays.
While I don't mind helping new players get acquainted with the game, I don't have a lot of patience in Korthos/Harbor to teach these new players the bare-bones basic aspects of how to play the game. I just want to get Korthos and the Harbor over and done with, and got tired of explaining endlessly where to find the quest + how to prepare spells + the pros and cons of each class/race + etc. It got amazingly draining on my will to play... And thank goodness I have Veteran Status so I can now just bypass that isle completely until I go back for the favor at some point.
I'm well aware that saying so makes me out to be a far greater jerk then I like to think of myself as being... but it's the truth.
Snowy Korthos? I don't group with people in Sunny Korthos, or the entire Harbor. It takes at LEAST to level 6 for natural selection to weed out the majority of people I desperately want to avoid grouping with.
I'm quite content to run my second F2P account hagglebot bard in the background for buffs, backup healing, and double chest/collectable pulls while I'm doing newbie content. Adding actual newbies, as beneficial as it may be for them, would cause me to throw my monitor out the window with alarming frequency.
I'm still green, but sometimes I get bored and roll a new character just to reharsh the "total newb experience" in snowy Korthos.
It's funny to see them going "oooh!" and "aaah!" as you disarm the (almost harmless) trap in Heyton's crypt or unlock that chest in the Necromancer's Doom quest.
The problem is nobody there uses the Social panel, thus you either:
1) Wait for hours and eventually give up.
2) Type in General Chat: "Hit 'O' and use the Social panel to look for a group!", getting funny and mostly unpolite answers. Then give up.
3) Invite players who are spamming "LFG" in General Chat and try to educate them. Then give up.

Thanks to dungeon scaling and some party of Korthos gear, soloing has become the fast, easy and reliable way to get XP quick. Add that to the almost guaranteed loss of the +10% flawless bonus XP these changes lead me to only group with the occasional guildy and solo the rest below level 10.
Without having to wait to form groups, without having to wait for all the guys to find the quest entrance, without having to wait till everybody is ready, without having to wait because people run off in 3 different directions, without having to wait when peple are struggling with Kobolds 50% of the time ,and 50% of the time with their inventory/movement controlls.
Erzskalde (Warchanter) / Erzassassin (just passing through - ignore me) / Erzsoldat (waiting for TR-time) / Erzschmied (ranged Artificer)
Pretty much already been said. It is a lot quicker (and sometimes easier) to solo thru Korthos. As people have said, I can wait 20 mins for all the party members to be ready or I can already have finished it.
For Korthos, any character(ok may be not dual wielding 8 dex characters) should be able to solo normal Korthos, most should be able to do hard. Misery and Cannith I think are the only two that get tricky on elite but still doable depending on the character.
(Misery mostly because it gets darn tedious without a decent DPS character)
Yep, the changes Turbine has make to make it easier for newbs have made the game easier to solo than ever before. So much so that a lot of vets prefer it now to pulling their hair out in PuGs and risk losing two 10% XP bonuses for circumstances outside thier control. Not to mention Dungeon Scaling often makes it *harder* to run things in groups. So the OP really has no one but Turbine to blame for how they've changed the game mechanics to favor this kind of questing.
Plus if you want to skip korthos at level 1 you can repeat haverdasher and miller's debt to get to level 2 even faster than by repeating collaborator.
There's also the fact that a lot of experienced players make veteran characters that start at level 4. Unless they /death before rebinding, that knocks them right past snowy korthos, and at level 4 they should easily be able to solo all of korthos to elite or at least hard.
Why does it matter?
