    Default New to Server

Hi everyone, I'm officially moving to this server today.. after much trial and error with other servers. I was just wondering some basic info about this server, for example what guilds to avoid or join etc..

My ingame name is Awyrlen. Hope to be running some parties with you soon.

Hello and welcome to Thelanis server!
Please proceed directly to decon room 7-b for immediate inspection and delousing.

Only kidding, but I would suggest you group with people and find who suits your playstyle on your own rather than adopting someone else's guild reccomendations or guild grudges as your own. It is a rather subjective thing, you know?

Have fun playing on Thelanis =)

    Default Guilds

Fortunately or Unfortunately, depending on your perspective, we don't have a "list" of the good and the bad and what is good for one is bad for another and vice versa.

I've been in a guild that a number of people would avoid and yet most of the ddo world knows to be the best guild (skills and accomplishments) in the game.

So, what works for one, won't work for another.

As the Thelanis server goes round, I have heard good and bad about a number of guilds, so if you ask 100 people, you will get so many different opinions, some based on thoughts, rumors and experiences.

Then you will run with some people from one guild and have an atrocious experience and decide they all suck. Then you find out there are 50 other members that I will tell you are good.

Hell, I run with a couple of toons that aren't named variants of Ministry so I can be incognito and see what people are like. I run on my mains and the players know me and are cool, then I run on an alt and run with the same players and they treat me differently... it just happened on friday with a guy from a guild I know quite well. It was disappointing, but I keep it inside and know more about that person (******).

You will find that players are usually more important than guilds and you will end up using your friends list a lot more here than knowing guilds.

If you try to go by guilds, you will be way off... except on the very rare occurence that a guild drafts players of similar personality and skills.

Earlier in the week I was running with this phenomenal player / person that was in one of those HUGE membership guilds that a lot of people make fun of because they grab people off the boat, but every once in a while they can get lucky.

Hope this helps, but it probably wont.

Don't come with any preconceived ideas, just come observe and form your own. Start by giving everyone the benefit of the doubt then see what develops. There are a lot of fine people playing here so best of luck big fella !
