I tried this but was not happy with the results. Figured with multiple pets, crowd control from spells and imbued arrows it would be a blast to solo with.

I would summon a blackbone mage, mummies and an elemental then go into sneak mode and let the pets start combat. I found even with the pets starting combat before I am noticed, if I attack anything with my bow the mobs drop their target and run to me.

As much as I love the idea of a ranged combat wizard, as long as the ranged mechanics work the way they do it is just not viable.

Problem is that pets are really really weak in the game. Maybe Hezrou can sometimes be useful, but any class focusing on using pets to solo is going to be weaker than majority.

Hence the problem with the wiz PrE, where only the lich form can be useful (and I'm still trying to find a reason to like wraith too). I didn't even bother with the pets.
