Unhappy Launcher frozen at Pre-requisite software - DDO Splash Screen?

    Hello all!

So, I seem to have a slight problem with the launcher. After I got it to update to update 3 (hooray for redundant sentence), I was able to log on and play for a while. I exited, watched TV, did homework, etc. I try to get back on 2 hours later, with my laptop having been on the entire time, and the launcher freezes at "Installing Pre-requisite software: Downloading DDO Splash Screen." 4 hours later, no change. I re-installed the entire game, but when I logged out and tried to get back on a few hours later, same deal. I'm running XP SP3, and I've never had any problems before.

    Any suggestions?

    Run as admin...worked

Thx for the reply....I was having the same problem. If u go to your program files (or at least that is where I went) and under Turbine, D&D etc...then right click on your dndlauncher, One of the options will be Run as Admin...and that cleared up my problem as well...not sure if I am going to have to do that everytime...will see

Oohh forgot to mention that I have bloated Vista as well.....Actually, I went back and right clicked on my D&D icon on the desktop, and it also gave the option to run as admin which worked as well....good luck

Running turbinelauncher.exe instead of dndlauncher.exe will also fix this problem, I believe dndlauncher.exe does not have elevated user rights where turbinelauncher.exe does.

Only problem is, I don't run Vista. I run XP, Service Pack 3, as stated in the original post. I also have all administrative rights. It ran fine all of last night, now it remains at Loading Splash Screen even after 6 hours and endless restarts. Time to re-install...

    Default meh

yeah i have the same problem, and have a submitted trouble ticket.

xp service pack 3, admin rights everything cool. i got it to work twice then it shut down, it's broke again now, but here is what i did.

i loaded up the standard res, with the actual game patcher not turbine(which is buggy, even causes probs for other games, did a bit of research on it btw.)

ok so anyhow over the last few days anytime i had a prob with the launcher screen i just ran the install file again and did a file repair. the sucky part about it is, it's not a permanent fix, it will, eventually soon start having problems again.

and after i figured this out, tech support send me a message to try repatching with the turbine loader... not a good idea would be my guess. i tried turbine a few times, tried all the admin garbage, checked my direct x and all that good stuff none of it works for xp. thats just for vista and windows 7.

the other thing i noticed, and i think this is where the glitch is from, is that every login you have to redownload the load the "pre-requisite software" before logging in, at peak times i think that this may actually be the issue. i would wager a programmed timeout function during download is the culprit.

moral of the story? get the login screen up outside of peak times, and leave it up till u want to play lol, oh wait... ddo closes itself so you can't hahahahaha...

i feel a great desire to slap the patch programmers with "THE WET NOODLE OF SIMPLISTIC STUPIDITY!"

why? because they managed to patch people out of the game lol! literally!

on a side note, if anyone has a better fix than mine let me know.....

anyone desiring to correct my grammer or spelling also deserves a slap from "THE WET NOODLE OF SIMPLISTIC STUPIDITY!" i write like i talk get used to it.

Well, I got my problem to resolve itself. I play on a laptop, and occasionally need to immediately shut it off. The problem was that the immediate shutdown wiped out any files I downloaded during the session. By simply avoiding the immediate shutdown, I got it to run fine.

Thank you all for your input!

I am having the same problem, and it is only after the recent patch. the launcher will sit on Installing pre-requisite software for about 10 minutes, then suddenly beneath that it will say Downloading "Loading Screen 6" and it will sit there indefinitely. I have tried restarts, I have tried turning off every other program that doesnt need to be running (though I never needed to before) and still nothing. it sits, and sits. up until 2 days ago everything was ok. it would stay on the pre req install thing for a little while then suddenly go to the login screen. now it sits on loading screen 6. i dont get it, how do i fix this? also, I am running XP, not vista.

I had this problem but fixed it by opening the task manager (through ctrl+alt+delete) and switched to processes. I then ended processes that were useless and clogging up my RAM (as well as blocking downloads).
I suggest ending only processes that you know what they do and are not needed.
It now works fine for me.

Default I DID IT! (My Solution)

After tons of tweaking I did it! (Vista Home Basic, 32-Bit)

I went into AppData (C:, Users, (Computer/Yourname), AppData, Local, Turbine, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Launcher)

Inside of the "Launcher Folder" you will find "Download List", I deleted that, and after a quick error (Which made the launcher disconnect and restart) it began patching as normal and brought me to the login window!

(Please Note, One thing is out of whack, any splash screens (Non-Gameplay loading screens) Appear as a white grid pattern on a blue background.)
