It doesn't, unless you want some particular skills.

12 Int = 3 Skill Points = Concentration, Diplomacy, UMD

My name is Cinder and I am a sorcerer. I casts the spells that make things fall down!

I use diplomacy all the time when I'm grouped up.

When I TR again I'll pop another 2 points into INT and take Intimidate as well.

Balance on a sorc is old news. Heroic Surge, 'nuff said.

Diplomacy is used to de aggro.... Kinda useful for a squishy sorc.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

    instead of diplomacy i use:

displace, stoneskin, protects and i know how to kite my aggro to their demise (the habits one forms from playing first person shooters, hehe)

what do you mean "kite my aggro"?

can someone give me an explanation of how diplomacy is used? how do i know it worked? what sort of creatures does it not work on? should i cast it before the first attack or after?

Diplo is an AOE de-aggroer, range is about the same as a haste. Does not work on mindless creatures such as amimals, oozes and most undead. Use it when you have ggro and dont want it.

You can place the Diplo skill in your hot bar, and when it is activated - you have an area of effect chance to de-agro anything mad at you within that area. The agro will shift to a party member instead.

how do i know it worked?
There will be a small yellow icon over their heads, similar to Intimidate or Bluff. Plus, they won't attack you for a short time.

It only works on things that can reason. So, mindless undead - slimes - most contructs... these things it will not work on.

Also note, that Diplomacy does not work when soloing. It needs somebody else around for the creature to be mad at.

    After.

All monsters near you will get a symbol flash over their heads if diplomacy works on them, then after they finish attacking you, they'll move on to someone else.

Diplomacy doesn't work on undead or animals, and it doesn't stop them in mid-attack if it does work.

    OH MY GOD

I was trying to caste diplo from like really far away before -_-.

so you don't actually target creatures? is it just a AOE radius around the caster? or do i target a creature and it has an AOE radius around that creature?

will it work if they are already running towards me? lets say i aggro'd a guy and he's taking a beeline straight for me. is it possible for me to diplo him once he gets close and will he just turn around and find someone else?

I started my WF sorc at 14 int.

    Balance 11 ranks
    Concentration 23 ranks
    Intimidate 11 ranks
    Use Magic Device 11 ranks

    At level 7 I used a +2 inteligence tome.

    Jump 8 ranks

I also use Litany of the Dead and crafted +40% Glaciation 8 onto a +7 int ToD ring (the stat didn't really matter because it's a hotswap item).

My sorcerer ended up with 24 intelligence (good enough for any int rune in the game).

The nerfing will continue until morale improves!

that depends on how much aggro they have on you
each time you successfully diplo an enemy, some of that aggro is taken off
if diplo takes the aggro level you have with the monster below the agro it has on other party member, it'll switch target to highest aggro player
