Default diplomacy: do you use it?

I was wondering if any 10+ level chars ever use diplomacy and what for... I always feel like its pretty pointless because it doesn't work on a lot of enemies and especially bosses, who you really need it for.

What are you talking about? It works on most enemies, and it also works on bosses (whether your skill + roll are high enough sometimes is another matter). It doesn't work on animals or ooze, that's about it. It even works on constructs like golems. Basically, it works on pretty much everything that is a remote challenge to fight.

I use it when it parties, after a crit prismatic spray for >1200 damage with over a dozen devils attacking me. Tap the key, put them on somebody else, and then blast away again. Sure, I only shake them for 6 seconds, but that's all I need to pop a heal scroll, swap to my nuking weapons and blast again.

Not to mention how useful it is to use on people that go afk during part one of the shroud. Gather mob, run to person who is AFK, hit diplo, and watch AFK character get killed.

That's funny but I just hope I never get the chance to go AFK in one of your group

On my melee toons I map keys 1-4 to sunder, trip, stun, intim and sort of compulsively hit those while playing...
so on my caster types I map keys 1-4 to diplo, diplo, diplo, and diplo...
and it does work for the most part unless I've managed to really seriously peeve something off.

    Cool Intimisorc? Yes!

    Why diplo?
    Use initmi.
I use it all the time.
Cuz as a nuker you might WANT that aggro: drag them to the web, FW, CoC, DBFB, WoE, WoB - anything AoE.
I'm sure you've been thru this: 'hey, i've placed a FW, pull mobs right there!" but melees think different.
Also helps kiting mobs around while others beat on a boss or a portal.

Default feels silly after reading aspenor's post...

I never use it on my drow, even though I have maxxed it at every level. I just never remember. If I get excess aggro it usually means I just nuke harder 'til everything is dead. Guess I should give it a try...
