Default Human or Warforged - need opinions!

Given 32-point build, which is the better race for sorcerer? I have a drow but she dies all the time.

    Both can be viable.

Humans get an extra feat and 1 extra skill point, which can be used to take an extra metamagic or spell pen feat, for example. The 1 extra skill point means that you can have enough skill points to put into both Concentration and UMD. You can always get a UMD high enough to cast Heal scrolls for self healing.

Warforged have the benefit of more readily available self-healing through spells, which can be Quickened for uninterrupted healing, downplaying the need for a very high UMD. They also start with a higher base CON and CON enhancements which can mean more HP. They do however take a -2 hit to CHA, the sorc's main casting stat, which could mean your DCs suffer slightly. But many who play WF sorcs say this reduction is negligible and not all too noticeable.

^^ This. I really don't have anything else to add. Sirea covered it quite well.

I went Warforged with my arcane. Being able to self-heal is really nice. Plus you can heal other warforged which comes in handy at times. Of course I went Wizard, so the -2 CHA didnt hurt.

I've leveled up both a WF and a Human Sorcerer.
I found that the WF was a lot more fun, not to mention durable. But, for the points Sirea explained above, both Human and WF are fine choices for different reasons.

However, if you are finding your Drow Sorc to be on the squishy side - I'd push WF a bit more, and don't neglect your Con score.

All great points above. The only thing I would add is a human sorc can get that UMD pumped and thus be a useful self healer before too long (you can even use that extra feat for skill focus:umd for a while to get that self healing in earlier and then spec it out when you don't need the help later)

Save DCs will suffer, but spell penetration won't. Spell Penetration is based on caster level + feats + gear; your casting stat has no impact.

If you're in a guild with good players and always group with them, a Human with UMD will have a higher DC, usable UMD, and an extra feat.

If you tend to solo more, the innate self-healing and durability of a Warforged wins out. Humans can self heal with UMDing scrolls, but it's not a quickened 285pt reconstruct that Warforged get.

Both are great choices but honestly they perform differently in game terms. Play too it.

Humans are better casters. Period. They got the extra feat and will be unlikely to take quicken(something IMO I'd suggest for any wf arcane) thereby gettin to focus feats over a wf or even better a wiz PL. I definately noticed the dif in DC's - things would save alot more end game on my AOE reducing my overall dps. As gol alluded to if u run with good groups u get more bang for buck output wise with a human. U get other benefits also as sirea alluded too.

Warforged in my mind Are the soloists/survivors which can be equally effective. Humans don't come close to what these guys can do in this aspect. This is why I would choose wf over human:
    1. If u seem to die alot or have issues managing agro.
    2. U plan on serious soloing.
    3. U work often and closely with wf melee.
    4. Instead of buying 200 heal scrolls a day u use spell points lol.

Probably the best thing about wf however is u can play more aggresively. Instead of gathering up 6-9 devils u can get away with 15-20. U can also play plastered and not die as much

Drow are more attractive with 32 point versions available... Same sort of thing as human.

You're right, I think I got a little over eager in my attempt to cover all the bases of the pros and cons of each race, and included too much information

I went back and editted out the erroneous piece

One more thing to note on the WF is their immunity to poison, disease, and they can't be level drained. They also don't breathe so you never have to have a UA item and the auto stabilize so if you are down and not out you don't have to worry about rolling dice to see if you stabilize. Not that I'm a WF advocator, but they are very cheap to run and very survivable at low to mid levels.

Humans eventually get enough UMD, where they can eventually self heal almost as well as a WF.

Not really. Scroll healing is way inferior to quickened reconstruct.

if you have problem in keep your drow caster alive, I doubt if a human one would be much better. (they are just slightly better than drow in survivability, imho) I think WF is better for you.
