thats just a display error, your dc stayed the same

and your dc is the dc the mob has to overcome with his save, otherwise its affected

    DC works like this:

Your Finger of Death has a set Difficulty Class (DC) that your target must make a saving throw to overcome. He succeeds, he lives, he fails, he dies. The behind-the-scenes calculation that's going on is:

    Difficulty Class (you):
10 + Spell Level (7, in this case) + Your primary casting stat modifier (Int for Wizards, so if you have a 40 Intelligence it will be +15. If you're a Sorc it's Charisma, but works the same way).

Saving Throw (target): Base Save + Buffs + 1d20 Roll. 1 automatically fails, 20 automatically succeeds.

How to boost your spell DCs to the highest possible:
Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus feats
+ Int or + Cha items
Spell Focus or Greater Spell Focus on an ITEM, stacks with a Feat (Stormreaver's Napkin, Death's Touch, Regalia of the Phoenix)
Exceptional Int or Cha (Shroud crafted items or Tower of Despair rings)
Heighten Spell feat (raises all spell level modifiers for the purposes of DC to the highest level you are able to cast)

How to get target's saves as LOW as possible:
Enervation / Energy Drain (negative levels = lower saves)
Curse (cursespewing weapons will also work, but few people use these)

    Hope that helps,

    DC = 10 + Spell Level + Charisma Modifier

    For example

You have a 36 Charisma, for Finger of Death, your DC would be

    10 + 7 (FoD is 7th lvl spell) +13 (Cha modifier)

Your DC would be 30 (10+7+13)

To get that higher, you can
    - Get items with Types of spell focus on them, to give you more DC
    - Get the feats
    - Use heighten.. heignten would bring FoD up to a lvl 9 spell, so instead of +7, it would be +9, so giving it 2 more DC
    - Bard song, spell singer bard song gives +1 DC

It may just be a display error, or maybe you had a +9 CHA item in your hand that you swapped out for the wand?

EDIT: Hellmoob beat me to it

I tested it by wearing a +6 cloak so it wasnt a hand item.. guess it's just a display error.. but it freaked me out heh
