Now that EU is out it's the exact opposite. A quest is hard so the newbs complain they can't keep up so they add a casual mode. We got put to sleep for 7 minutes and die or wiped. Oh well deal with it. Now oh we'll shorten that sleep timer for you. We don't want it to be hard. Oh this quest is too hard OK we'll make it easier. Don't bother to find a way to adapt & overcome we'll just make it easier so you can complete it.

How long is it going to be before they just say OK you're level 20 and you can have every uber item you want. Just give us $10 and we'll make it happen. You'll still suck as a player and will have no clue how the game works but we'll take youre $$ and give you a crutch.

Eric, it's even worse than you describe.

There is categorically no way to instill a learning curve anymore.

I stated the obvious, I know, but there it is anyway: There is categorically no way to instill a learning curve anymore.

Each and every update has flattened that curve so that it now resembles a gently rising slope with no thought, ingenuity, cunning or creativity required to succeed.

This update, along with the two previous, have been intensely disappointing from the standpoint of someone who has played D & D since it was Chainmail and has cherished the intellectual challenge it presented as well as the creative one. Now, DDO is a push button you win game and I hope the developers take some notice and make some sharp turns from what has become a regrettably very narrow and predictable path.
