    Default Vista 64 Problems with New Download

    My machine is running Vista, 64 bit. I cannot see a download progress in the Launcher. It's just a black box.

    Same (on Vista 64 as well). Killed it with procmon (as none of the buttons did anything) and restarted.... now it's stuck on the launcher splash screen at "Opening main form".

    Sadly I only tested Lama on my XP running laptop.

    Edit: Killed again and I'm back to the blank screen pictured above.

    additionally, i cannot close the launcher unless I force close from the program manager. according to the manager, I'm getting nearly no action from the launcher on my RAM.

    I'd really like to get this downloaded. Please hjelp.

    I tested Lama on my machine just fine. I rebooted, but I'm not stuck at Opening Main Form. I'm still getting the screen shown above, though, and must force close from the Program Manager. Right now I'm just sitting here with it active hoping something is happening....but I doubt it is.

    Got this tip from another thread: Run as Administrator. It worked for me, I'm on my way.

    Had the same issue, running as admin seems to have fixed as I now have the update process started.

    Fix worked here too.

    Actually when Vista first came out you always had to launch DDO as admin. Then as Vista and DDO updated the issue went away. It does look like the launcher has been rebuilt so I'm guessing they're just missing some build or registration options in that new app.

    well I did all that was suggested for the user with an issue running it on windows 7 except I only have xp service pack 2 and this STILL won't work on either of my PCs on either account I have...

    Exact problem as described above.

    I went to the program files folder and changed dndclient.exe to run as administrator. the launcher was already set to run as admin.
    rebooted the computer, and launched the updater. Hung there, not even to the screen shown in first post.

    Killed the process, took admin selection off BOTH the updater and the client, rebooted, back to the above screen.

    Any other ideas?

    Edit: my laptop loaded and ran fine with vista32. Difference was it asked for permission to run the client when it launched.. my vista64 computer is not, I wonder if vista is asking but isn't bringing up the window that actually tells me it wants that info?

    Well I had a similar problem but found the fix at the other thread (another player gave a good advice). Advice is to run "TurbineRegisterGDF.exe" under the "DDO unlimited" folder.

    I run Vista 64 bit Home premium and this tip worked for me.

    This fixed mine as well.
