New Button on Option Bar - My DDO

mmmmm, very interesting....a new button on the game options bar...between the Main Menu Button and the DDO Store Button has appeared...

a MY DDO button that allows you to pop open the forums with an INGAME screen, as well as access the rest of the MYDDO pages - Compendium, Characters, etc. Going to make it painless to use character info on myDDO to check out people joining groups...

One downside is that it seems to be a fixed size of about 1/3 of the screen, about 3/5 width and 3/5 the height of your screen size. Can't shrink it from what I see.

I've been on Lamannia only once since they added that, and didn't click on it. Can you also access the forums from that window? If so I may just start playing in full screen mode again

I seemed to be unable to open PM's from the in game GUI however, had to Alt-Tab out to the browser outside the game to open and see the message. Perhaps it cannot allow a window in a window type thing...

When I heard they were integrating my ddo with the game, I thought they would be adding an inspect option on players, so that you could bring up their gear and stats in game. Is it just a button that opens a browser window? That's it?

Seems to be more or less. It is fixed size from what I can tell and it does not seem to be able to open any secondary windows. Not sure about popups from MyDDO character pages like when you mouse over items...off Lamannia right now...it is late..

If it makes it into the live build it will be kinda cool and put an end to the Alt tab annoyance (which also ended up killing my DDO app about 20% of the time I did it for some reason...)

gharet did hint at being able to access the forums from in-game. He also mention that this would be limited at 750px, IIRC.

That's great, no more alt+tabbing to post while questing! Also, this makes the Compendium less useless than it is. They just need to put useful information on there now!

Yea i played with it.

Meh too small and limited for me, and clearly uses crappy Internet explorer engine.. Gota have my adblocked, firefox tabbed browsing.

And on my machine alt-tabbing is insanely quick and stable with ddo currently so I'll still do that anyways. Really nice thing is I can alt tab on post on the forums while the game loads, with no lag or delay, can't do that with a crappy built-in IEBrowser.. True multitasking at work.

you are able to do this on live rite now with the ddo store .. you can click your way onto the internet.. I think it is a bug thou.

Does it also switch off mouse look (and not let you turn it back on) like the current DDO store does?

I think this is because I have mouse look set to a button on my mouse and the browser impentation is capturing mouse msgs.

The browser appears to be failing to refect msgs back to the parent (via parent-notify) for default processing.

Not sure if this is the case or not... I think its probably Firefox. If you look in the DDO directory (lamania or live), notice the browser directory. These are firefox plugins and configuration files that can be used to integrate firefox into an application.

They are also using js3250.dll which is the firefox javascript library, nspr4.dll is also a firefox dll.

I have actually done work on integrating firefox (and IE) into another application. Now working on scrapping firefox and integrating chrome into the product instead.

I was wondering why the formatting (text/css) of the forums changed last week, until I saw this on Lamannia.

Personally, I'd rather see ddowiki implemented instead of the compendium...but I suppose that wouldn't be good for business.

Wont affect me. I just checked for characters, and while I got a listing, when the link was clicked, all I got was a blank page. So no one can see my uber-gimpness

it is just a tool for the self elitist guilds to have a neurotic feeling of power to pickja nd choose who they want.. based on what items they have shown in my.ddo. Funny thing, it doesnt show who actually knows HOW to play thier toons.... another tool for tools to use and make discrimination just a little easier...
