Default Dragonmark + Metamagic - Magic = Profit?

I was working up a pure 20 Kensai fighter in a character planner, and had hoped to use the 3 Halfling Dragonmarks + Empower Healing to fill in all those extra feats.

However, I noticed immediately that even though the Dragonmarks were chosen in the planner, Empower Healing (or any metamagic, for that matter) did not become "exposed" to purchase.

Is this the case in game? In order to apply purchase a metamagic, do you need to have Magical Training (and in the case of Empower Healing, cure spells)? Or is it a flaw in the planner, and in game Empower Healing does get exposed when you take a Halfling Dragonmark, because the game is sophisticated enough to know that metamagics may apply?

I wouldn't be interested in it if I couldn't take it with Empower Healing, and there isn't any 2-multiclass with fighter that would be the least bit appealing (paladin, rogue, or monk) that would get to a level that has Magical Training (paladins don't get spells till 4). So, if anyone knows for sure, please let advise before I get my hopes up and dive in and have to respec immediately. Thanks!

wrong, to pick empower healing, you need to be able to cast healing spells: ranger8, pal4 (might be 8 too, never played paladins), clr1, favsoul1, bard1

Ok thanks for the confirmation. That kind of blows, but I guess it's understandable.

Goodbye Halfling Dragonmarks, I barely knew ye.

Just take a level in Wiz, and another in Bard, and you get an all you can eat metamagic buffet.
I did play a halfling fighter with Dragonmark +Empower healing +Maximize +empower +Devotion Tower shield.
I could fully heal myself 10 times over per rest. Who needs LOH?!

    Uh...no?

A level in Bard is all would need.

But then he wouldn't have full BAB anymore, and would lose his +10% attack speed capstone. Which is probably why he's saying he's just not going to take them.

    Just don't worry about splashing.

Halfling Dragonmarks are also boosted by potency or devotion items.

Grab a potency weapon, place it in a hot bar slot and swap before using your marks. Voila! +50% bonus.

Add in a few healing amps, and your marks will make a great " Oh ****!!! " button.

I did that with my Paladin. Dragonmark, Devotion shield, sacred armor, Hunter of the Dead. My little cure light mark is a great supplement to my LoH.

This is correct, you need 8 ranger levels since rangers gets CLW first at level 8 (pallies get it at 4). I cannot take Emp Healing on my 6 ranger splash fighter. I can take Maximize though, but that just affects CLW and CSW dragommarks.

To the OP - it is still worth it, without metamagics. With Potency your Heal will hit well over 200 HP, it's quick, non-interuptable and a real life-saver. And halflings do have a tendency to get themselves into trouble...
