Default .net wont work after reinstalling window- solution

Hi all i had some problems with my vindows vista instalation which resulted in a wipe and reinstall of my operating system.

Unfortunately i hit an error when trying to launch ddo from the ddo folder that i had copied over to my 2nd hard disk drive.

the error was roughly " ddo launcher error. you do not have the latest version of,net framework installed"

    and the launcher wouldnt launch.

i tried download latest updates via windows update which confirmed thta i had the latest version installed. i tried reinstalling .ner, repairing .net and quite a few other things.

in the end i tried a workaround as below

    i went here http://www.ddo.com/ddosupport/download-ddo

and clickd the turbine download manager.

the download manager said that i needed to install some dependancies which i let it do. In fact it installed four different files one of which was .net11.

After it had done this it then started the download manager which i turned off.

    CAUTION

however it also put the download manager in the Sys Tray by the little clock in the bottom right corner of the screen still running. So i had to click exit this also.

my ddo game now works fine . thanks to this workaround fix.

Note choose your own new folder location to install the download manager

I hope that this helps you folks who had the same issues i did

I just did the same thing but with a fresh install of win 7 x64. It downloaded the same 4 files but then the launcher has started to download 281mb of character generation files which seems really odd. I hope its not just overwriting files I already have.
