new paladin help with build

Hello, New to DDO, looking to make a paladin.
what should i put stats into at creation, i have 32 pt builds.
max cha max str wis and rest dex or what?
what should my lvl spells be lvl 1,2 and so on
Looking for a melee dps paladin with tanking ability
Should i splash a few fighter lvls in or ranger or possible rogue
Want to be a good paladin, played one in other games as a tank and a dps and love the class.

can't be DPS and tank. so just pick one. If you want to DPS and tank roll a barb

when you pick which one that will tell you what stats you need. Regardless all you need is 10 wisdom. you can get items to push it up so you can cast all pally spells.

I spam divine might the most. everything else is gravy.

The first is a very excellent guide written by Junts, and the second is some more general information geared towards Human Paladins, with some gear suggestions for the lower levels.

I completely disagree. Vals Valhelm build provides a solid tank build with a twf dps option. Having rolled a copy and having a pure human KOTC I can say both have their merits. You can do dps and tank. You wont do the dps of a KOTC, Kenasi, or a barb but you can dps as long as you roll the build with a twf or thf option.

Right, because you'll tank SO much better on that Barb with the 14 AC... >_>

Moving on.

If you do want to go tank, then you definitely need a DPS option, which the second link I provided doesn't really help you much with. Going THF would probably be easier on your stat points, since you'd need 13 INT for Combat Expertise, though it would certainly be doable to go TWF. Probably Drow would help there? I would just think it would be pretty tome heavy to go that way.

The first link does help there somewhat though, and splashing 2 Fighter for free Tower Sheild prof and 2 bonus feats is what I remember most of the tank builds in the guide doing.

you will not be able to tank high end if your AC is not in the 60s. If you consider tanking having a shield out and getting hit every once in a while then ok. I consider tanking having a shield out and NOT getting hit.

Even with DR a Barbarian is still going to take damage. Unless you think that a Barbarian is never going to be hit for more than 9 damage.

So...then you agree with me that Barbarians are DPS, and not Tanks?

When was the last time you saw a Barbarian using a shield and avoiding damage by having an AC too high to get hit?

So an 18 pally 2 ftr dos build with an ac easily in the high 80s s%b and in the 70s twf is getting hit more than a barb? I dont think so. Most decently geared s%b pallys hit the low 60s by lvl11-12. Your assessment is rather off. If you are going to comment like that please know what you are talking about.
