    Default Melee +hit/AC ?s

ok reading about Strength Vs Dex builds
so it made me wonder at high levels....raids/solo
how much is enough +hit so that a 1 is about the only time you miss
and how much AC seems to be high enough?

80 views and no responses? jeez im not asking for precise numbers im looking for ballpark figures

like i asked over in rangers section about bows and they advised somewhere around 30 so im curious if melee is same or more.

on the AC question im looking for a number that means you have a reasonable shot at taking hits versus always getting hit versus tank numbers versus squishy numbers

*these questions as i said come from some of the threads that talk STR Vs DEX builds *doing lots of DPS vs not getting hit alot, im just trying to see if there is a middle ground somewhere*

there is no clear answer to your question, as Turbine keeps increasing the AC of mobs as levels increase. Also, it depends on whether or not you have the correct weapons to bypass a mobs DR. Difficulty of the quest will raise the ac of mobs. So basically there is no too much, only not enough.

For endgame on Normal, a +30something on your first swing won't miss too much.
+40something is what most melee should be setting as a minimum (no flanking bonuses or very short-term buffs)
+50something boosted is what you'll want for epic
+60something is enough to handle anything in the game and a few things that aren't yet.

For a breakdown of how much to-hit my Halfling Kensai/Rogue/Monk (12/7/1) gets in optimal conditions:

    17BAB
    +3 Divine Power clickie
    +17 boosted strength modifier
    +9 best warchanter song
    +5 tharne's goggles
    +3 rogue sneak accuracy
+3 flanking bonus (with fighter flank mastery 1)
+4 halfling guile (or cunning, I don't remember which it is now)
    +2 greater weapon focus
    +2 recitation
    +5 weapon
    +2 kensai weapon spec.
    +2 Shintao Monk set
    -5 Power Attack
    = +70

Of course, that's not very maintainable... But it's technically possible.

EDITED: Forgot Power Attack, Madstone Rage and my ToD set. Sorry.

VERY, VERY, helpful. Can you provide a similar analysis of the AC needed to be viable?

AC depends on what content you are running, and how you are running it. As a member of a 6 or 12 man group, thats not assigned main tanking duties in raids, around 70ish buffed is good ac for most content.

If you get into maintanking end game raids you will need a little more to a lot more depend on the raid and difficulty.

Not to say that you wont notice a difference at a 60 buffed ac, but 70ish is pretty good.
