Thumbs up The Looter update! Giving some easy rogue love.

Rogues, boring some say. Nice for a few levels others say. Usually as a pure class its pretty much unloved but by the few I believe and its seen as a challenge to some others. Maybe a rogue wouldnt be so unloved if one simple adjustment was made without affecting major game mechanics or going against character. What if a rogue with the nature and skill he possesses was equal to an always on loot gem at quests that equal his level and below and could stack with actual loot gems as well. IE a 10th level rogue in a 10th level normal difficluty quest will open chests and find 11th level loot for the whole party or 12th level loot with a loot gem running! A multiclass rogue with only 2lvls in rogue will only ever be any use in 2nd level quests!

    1) Rogues are DPS and are not unloved at any level except by uneducated players if they are built for DPS
    2) It couldn't work as you suggest since the mechanic of how loot is generate ignores who "first opens" the chest, each person that touches it "opens" it themselves.
    3) Loot gems - don't buy them, absolutely not worth it

Agreed on all points except number 3. I'll use them for running Vale quests on Normal and rares in the explorer areas, since bumping up the level by 1 allows for the chance of +2 tomes dropping from the chests. Other than those particular edge cases though, I agree.

By the way I believe they can be as good dps as any but I have to greater reincarnate to get that. My rogue was my first DDO character. Multi rogues took some of the pleasure from playing my rogue as they would brag about how they could do everything a rogue could and more. My rogue needs more love. So therefore the bonus to loot would be the rogues only! Even the DDO game says playing a rogue is a challenge so the rogue player deserves some sort of fair balance in the game.

2 levels for evasion + UMD, a good splash for some builds + optionally open lock/DD skills (although a lot of new players take this or more levels on builds without synergy, but they will learn).

Pure rogues, or rogues with 1 or 2 levels splashed, are very powerful and very common builds that are in demand. Rogue Assassin III builds are insanely good damage dealers and lots of fun.

Yup, that's true. Those quests on the line a level below +2 tomes have a reason. All the people using them on lowbies (which seems pretty common for new players) are probably wasting their money.

Well if you guys dont think your rogue deserves some more attention, better rewarded for the greater challenge of playing then thats the end of it.

Rogues need attention, but not on the loot ***** front. I also don't know what you mean by "greater challenge". I don't find my rogue more challenging to play per se than many other classes. Bard for example is much tougher to play and build effectively.

The should be able to take ANY feat for their bonus feats (as pre D&D rules and as promissed "for the future" by Turbine two years ago)

The rogue capstone is a joke. It needs to be beefed up or an alternative put in place

Rogues need a way to somehow bypass or reduce fort, or at least get the sneak attacks through fort.

Assassin I needs to be fixed, its only been broken since it was released.

We need more spots where rogue trap skills have meaning. (Although splash rogues could prob still handle this)

Pure (or near pure) rogues actually are in pretty good shape at this point in the game.

I have to disagree with that last part there. I have run mindsunder many times and lately i have been using the loot gem and i started regularly pulling much better loot items. For example a +2 Str tome from the first locked chest under the stairs.

I have also noticed this in The Shroud and Vale runs as well.

I understand it's just my opinion , but im just reporting what i have noticed lately.

On the topic - A rogue is just as viable a class as any other but is at risk of being poorly designed, dressed and played like any other class.

    cheers
