    Default Build Critique: The Boulder

    Here's my tank/melee build.

Made for survivability, self-sufficiency, and abilty to switch melee or tank as needed.
Also, I optimized for cheap cost as an alt. I don't want something that will be a hassle to equip. This build should preform quite well even with mostly-crappy gear.

Anyways take a look and give me your comments. I think I might have goofed with the shield/armor stuff. Im assuming mithril plate and tower shield, but I'd like to take max advantage of the dex bonus with about a 24 modified dex (+7 dex bonus). If thats hard I'll probably drop the gear for +dex and fill it with another slot, since I also need charisma, con and str anyway . My gear knowledge is pretty weak.

    Here it is:

    Oh I forgot to mention.

For DPS this build will use dual Dwarven Axes.
For surviving, this build uses tower shield and dwarven axe or whatever.

It is optimized for high saves and immunity, evasion and good shield DR when turtling.

IU dont know enough about gear to make an accurate breakdown or estimation about endgame saves, damage, or ac. Hopefully someone in the know can help.

    thanks

    Okay, just realized this:

With the enhancements, assuming +5 mithril full plate and +5 mithral tower shield, they have a max dex of 6. So you'd want to use only a +4 dex enhancement for this character and not the full +6. Which is fine, as it turns out. Just walking around normally with regular gear they will reach ~60 AC and can reach over 70 with some effort. Plus evasion, very high saves, immunity to fear, disease and such.

I may drop OTWF for something, but I'm not sure what.

Does evasion work in medium armor or does it have to be light armor?
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

    You're right - I had forgotten that.

So you'll need a mithril breastplate or mithril brigandine.

With 2 armor enhamcements, and 3 tower shield enhancements, you can use +7 dex bonus to AC, which allows you to fully use a +6 dex item. So given this gear:

    +5 Mithril Brigandine
    +6 Dex Ring
    +5 Cloak of Protection
    +5 Mithril Tower shield
    Chaosgarde Bracers
    Parrying Weapon

    Your regular no-buffs AC is:
    ---
    10 Natural
    +7 Dex bonus
    +10 Armor
    +9 Shield
    +5 Deflection from cloak
    +5 from Combat Expertiese
    +1 from Paladin Aura
    +2 from Chaosgarde
    +1 Parrying Weapon
    +3 Stalwart Defense
    +2 Blocking
    ---
    Total: 55

    Did I get that right?

Add on barkskin, haste, fighter AC boost, etc and it goes up a bit more.

Im no expert on endgame, but that seems like a pretty decent AC for some pretty crummy gear.

Mithral Breastplate or Mithral Chainshirt is what you mean.
