Jeeze, that's a noob thing huh?
I did this the other night... never even thought about it before just becasue I usually beg a GH from a person buffing or use my gird (in spite) just out of habit... but we got joking around before jumping through the portal and I didn't notice and sonofa if the first bloody trog caster didn't cast fear. Totally discombobulated me... it's like wthk am I supposed to do now??? Very embarassing experience. Eventually someone noticed and cleared it so I could use the gird but... I guess it was just a good refresher to sober up for a couple seconds before going through the portal to check the essentials.
[quote=Ministry;2708874Damn Vet players!!![/quote]
I've been waiting to see the thread turn into the infamous Vets vs F2P
I tell people all the time Im a mommy IRL there im expected to bandage boo boos kiss every scrape and coddle.
when im in game even on my healers I dont do that, it maybe heavy handed but im used to playing with people that handle their own stuff. Guild members who can buff themselves do so I dont think I have a build that relies on anyone else to get me and even my barbarians carry pots for most things. Its called common sense not whining to expect people at higher levels to play to keep their characters safe. I think people need to learn to run sans clerics. Thats what opened my eyes. When I first played the game got into the mentality that we "need a healer" started running with other groups running with just casters or just fighters no healer and actually succeeding because gasp I can get my own ailments and hp and realized no I dont need to be coddled so neither does anyone else. I will heal you especially in raids and your taking damage but if you cant swap a pap item or disease immunity (omg someone actually got devils chills one night I didnt know whether to laugh or cry) for a few minutes while you dps harry ive no sympathy for you.

From a sophmore newb perspective:
I played waaay back in beta and for about six months after, but that doesn't mean jack now.
I'm more or less an EQ2 vet and in EQ2 there is no such thing as self healing. I have a level capped mystic there and that was my job, heals, wards, and buffs/cures.
I now have a 13 rogue and several 5-9 lvl toons here in DDO. It wasn't until I started playing FvS that I REALLY figured it out. So roughly a two months and I now understand...don't go into a quest, group or no group, unless you are ready to completely take care of yourself. Consequently, I now know where all the potion and wand vendors are and I have developed a healthy addiction to clickies. Don't give up on us, some like me REALLY want to learn and I always ask questions. I owe a lot of my education to the members of Ransacked who needed a lvl 6 rogue willing to listen and do what was asked.
Ah, but see herein lies the difference that we have noted.
Some people like you admit their lack of experience and ask questions and want to learn and grow and improve.
Others are just lazy ******s who prefer to let everyone take care of them, because they know some bleeding heart will do just that.
You probably can attest to the fact that when you admit your experience level and desire for knowledge, you will in most cases get it.
Imagine how I felt... a supposed vet that has to tell the new to server guild "Erebus" that I have only done TOD once and need a little guidance. I missed all the release and have gotten a few toons flagged and am now the newb in TOD. Did they call me a noob and tear into me? Nope... just said a few words and away we went. I figure if I died, they might have dragged my stone to the rez shrine when they were done... and you know what... I would have been fine with that.
My post is for the level 17 and up crowd that are either too lazy or too ignorant to be self-sufficient and then they or their sad friends get all upset when someone calls them on their BS.
How can you make it to level 17 and not know about potions and some level of self-sufficiency?
Is it possible?
I doubt it.

I see your point, it only took me until lvl 13 on my first toon to get that high to figure it out. Honestly (and I probably don't have a right to even feel this way) I get annoyed now when people aren't somewhat self-sufficient or when the PuG leader refuses to start WW Hard with out a healer.
Agree with both.
This is what my OP was all about... that and after these tards got called on it, they decided to argue, which pushed my buttons.
And seriously... if a bunch of Rogues can run the Shroud on hard... stop waiting on clerics all the time, or if you get one, maybe ask if they are set for healing as their primary function, or if they prefer to melee.

Mror Hold, 2nd in command - Thelanis
Why am I a disgruntled vet? I could care less about nerfs, if the rest of the update worked.
I hate epic, GSF !="generalist wizard", and my raid loot luck still *'in sucks.

Ouch.
haha
Okay... maybe not a PUG shroud without a cleric... good point.
Umm... based on what I've seen and heard lately about so many failed shroud runs, I understand. I haven't been on one since I got back, but there was one that everyone died in part 5 except my cleric. The other cleric was healing while I was getting spell points back and then people were dropping all over. I didn't understand it. He was 1/2 full on mana and they were dropping all over and fast.
Okay, maybe they didn't have many hps... which I noticed as I was having fun trying to keep them up on my turn, but to have them all drop so fast after the other cleric took over.
So... low hit points, poor play, etc...
Luckily I managed to get up a heavy hitting barb from Madborn and we completed with the hero method.
So much can go so bad, so almost any group can fail in the Shroud.
But, when I see a bunch of Rogues do the Shroud on hard, I think.... "come on people, if they can do it, why can't a well balanced party do it?"
The answer... I'm guessing complacent lethargy. People expect they can get a free ride on raids like that... free buffs, hand holding, etc...
Again, this rarely happend on Xoriat, happened some on Thelanis before I left, but ever since coming back... I see it WAAAAYYY more.
And you know what else I see much less of? Guilds posting for LFM. They would prefer to short man it than pick up puggers.

Too many strawman distractions.
The point is not to nerf yourself so that you never need to run with a cleric again.
The point is to be the best team player you can be....have a selection of easily available pots on you:
Cure/Repair Serious Wounds
Remove Fear
Remove Curse
Neautralize Poison
Lesser Restoration
yada yada yada.
If you have a problem this, than you'll always remain a burden on your party.
That sounds like a Shroud I healed this week. I was on my FVS (who is a melee build but in Shroud I heal anyway) there were TWO other clerics. I don't know what they were doing with their spell points but whatever it was, it wasn't helping much. Eventually they both die in part 5 to who knows what and other party members start dying because I'm doing everything I can to keep up the barb and go hero method. I tell everyone that I'm healing the barb and myself and no one else because the pools are all out at this point so I need to save my SP so they better be popping pots if they want to stay alive. Everyone but one rogue who is umd scroll healing himself and helping me with the barb dies. We finish off the last oh...40% of Harry with me, a rogue, and the barb. It was pretty epic. I used about 9 major mana pots, but it was worth it. After it was all over the barb thanks me and sends me a stack of 20 (!) major mana pots in the mail. I wish more players were like that rogue and that barb. Raids would go so smoothly if they were![]()
I was in that shroud run and expecting to see a post on this.
As one of 3 rangers, at the beginning of part 5, I volunteered to pass out freedom of movement. I must not have been heard, because the leader then asked another ranger to pass it out, so I saved my spell points.
Then the potion debacle started. I was uninvolved and stayed out of that conversation, but could have passed out freedom, poison and fire to everyone. After that crazy incident calmed down, I buffed myself and decided that it wasn't worth stirring the pot and restarting the yelling by casting neutralize poison on anyone (I have proof against poison on belt) I may have had 75% of my spell points left over at completion. Something kind of scary though: If I remember correctly, the one missing self-poison-proofing was a TR making claims of years of experience.
Ironically, the whole situation distracted me so much that I forgot to swap my disease immunity item on until getting diseased in the middle of the boss fight. Then another player got poisoned and my jaw dropped. After completion I even destroyed a stack of 20+ disease removal potions to pick up more sellable loot.
On a related note, I have passed out poison, fire & freedom in shroud several times and can't remember a time where one or more didn't get recast by another player moments later. It feels pointless to help buff when others keep recasting the same stuff.
From my perspective, Ministy isn’t a “bad” guy. He was responding appropriately to somebody whose name got filed on my list under “hotheaded curser” and may have been banned if anyone else in that raid group felt more inclined than I did to report.
