If you've gotten this far, this would be a perfectly good place to stop reading. Cut your losses now. There are some very good flame wars going on in other posts. And some excellent advice threads. Or some other threads that contain at least some small amount of interesting detail. This is not such a thread.

If you've gotten this far, I suspect you are either very bored, morbidly curious, or optimistically hopeful that some value will come of this. If bored--your time will certainly be better spent elsewhere. If morbidly curious--well that can be a good trait--but can also lead you to folly. This would be an example of your folly. You'll never get these minutes back. If optimistically hopeful--that can also be a good trait. Like many things in life, however, it will not be rewarded here. I hope that doesn't damper your future optimism.

This paragraph is for those of extreme boredom or the sick and twisted. Everyone else should be gone by now. I thought about pasting in something painfully boring and mundane here (to the extent the existing text does not sufficiently serve that purpose). But that would be giving you what you want. And this tread is not intended to, nor will it, deliver on your desires and needs. Even you of extreme boredom and those sick and twisted among you really need to stop reading here.

Clearly you cannot take advice. Well . . . what can I do about that? For the love of DDO, PLEASE STOP NOW!

Ok, you've gotten this far. Please respond to this post by picking a number from 1 to 10,000. On Sunday, I will go in game and roll a /d10000. The person closest to my number will receive a large stone (shroud ingredient). The 1st person to pick a number claims that number. Any 2nd or subsequent picker of that number cannot win. If there is a tie (say someone picks 9000 and someone else picks 9002 and the actual number is 9001), the lower number wins. As I am only on Thelanis--this game is limited to Thelanis contestants only. I will send a private tell to the winner to determine how to transfer the prize to you.
    You spelled thread wrong...

To allow myself to continue to believe that I am infallible, I assert that I meant tread in that one instance rather than thread.

And this tread is not intended to, nor will it, deliver on your desires and needs.

tread, as a noun, can refer to:

The act, manner, or sound of treading.

treading, in turn, can refer to:

    1. To walk on, over, or along.
    2. To press beneath the feet; trample.
    3. To subdue harshly or cruelly; crush.
    4. To form by walking or trampling: tread a path.
    5. To execute by walking or dancing: tread a measure.
    6. To copulate with. Used of a male bird.

A careful read of my sentence shows that I was using either meaning 3 or 6 (your choice ).

You seem to be missing the point. Someone had chosen a 12 before my post of 8008. That gives me a range of -14 and +whatever the next highest number is. Even in the best situation only 0-42 would have been mine. However at 8008 I have -8007 and 8009+ making my range much more than the range I could have had at 42. NOT TO MENTION that in my rolls, the mean is probably closer to 50 than 1 or 100. Thus increasing chances the closer to center one guesses (decreased marginally by each successive guess within the mean 2000 4000-6000 in this case. Therefore it stands to reason that the bulk of guesses outside of outliers (if people went by percentages) would be between 2nd and 3rd quartiles. Which means that an educated guesser would put his or her guess around the meetings of 1/2 or 3/4 (or at 2500 and 7500).

So theoretically the 42 has as much chance of being the roll, but less chance of winning with price is right style of wagering.

What do you mean a -6 armor class is no good any more?

A smart man/woman would wager on 8675 since that is the largest gap in the number sequence
