    Default Make shroud portals spawn randomly

    Part 1 is so mind numbingly boring it really needs something to liven it up. Make the portals spawn in random order. Decrease the time it takes for keeper to spawn. Make keeper tougher to kill and up his offensive capabilites. Decrease hp of portals a bit. Something. Anything.

    The change I'd make to it would be to have the portals drop in HP by 50%, but for them to spawn Orthons much faster (so groups still kill about as many foes, but in a shorter time).

    Perhaps make it so that, instead of spawning a wave of trogs, then a single orthon, then a Portal Keeper, the portals spawn the trogs with one orthon first, then two more orthons, then the keeper with three barbazu.

    I've made similar comments before, but I just freaking hate the Shroud... and it isn't really because there is anything wrong with it, per se, but the game funnels you into it and almost requires that you run it into the ground on all of you characters. I just dread that. And I have around 20 characters of Shroud appropriate level. At *least* I never really need to worry about timer.

    As has been stated, part one is dull. In fact, I don't think anyone even talks about the game during part one. It is like open mike time at the stand-up club. So, yes, that could use some mixing up. But beyond that...

    Maybe I missed it somewhere, but *why* are there portals in part one at all? Aren't we already in Shavarath?

    I think the whole shooting match could use some randomization. There are 5 areas and probably the last one is sacrosanct, but it would be nice if the other 4 where maybe randomized areas. Meaning you have, say, 3 different possible zones for each part. I know that means generating another 8 areas that would only get randomized use, but considering how frequently the shroud is run, even those zones would probably rank upon the most played in the 10+ range.

    This sounds promising.

    No, you're in the Vale of Twilight, which is currently a manifest zone to Lammania. The devils of Shavarath are invading the Shroud (some ancient giant fortress) to attempt to make the Vale into a manifest zone to Shavarath so they can invade a lot easier. And they're only trying because the death of the Black Abbot knocked some of the planes a little off balance, so the devils think they can kick out Lammania pretty easily.

    At least, that's what I got by reading all the quest text. I've only been running the Shroud for a couple months.

    Which is kinda funny given that, after about 2 weeks, the Abbot was made nearly impossible and wasn't beaten on the live servers again for about a year after the Shroud came out.

    yes great idea let's make the shorud (that everyone after end-game gear is required to run dozens of times per character to get the necessary ingredients) even longer and harder. in fact, why don't we just nerf the drop rates of ingredients while we're at it so we can squeeze a few more dollars out.

    Making it random would make it differently annoying. It would certainly make it more difficult (heck, it would be hard for it to be any easier) so some people would consider that more annoying.

    Or maybe leave old quests alone. I know, this would be an extremely new concept for Turbine, but I have been supporting it for a while now and like beating my face into the ground apparently

    I'd cut the number of portals in half. Honestly it is no more fun or challenging to kill the first half after the second half. Its an interesting concept, but just too long...especially on run 424

    Ahh just consider Part I the cocktail hour of the quest, catch-up on some reading, or have some you-tube goin on...


    More trash only means longer quest, deader gimp casters, and ****ed off clerics. Don't want any of the above.

    If you want the shroud to be more exciting, run it with random PUGs that you dont know...you will be surprised at how challenging that can be.

    Do that, havethe T-shirt. I like the Random thing, I likethe HP/Orthon THing, actually, I guess anything would be better than boredom and catching up on gossip on part 1.

    That's a suggestion I made a few days after Shroud was first beaten... I forget how many years ago that was!

    Interestingly, a few of my other suggestions from that same post showed up in the VOD raid released next... but Shroud itself was not really altered (except some important exploits, and eventually changing the ingredient size on a chest). Why, they never even fixed the painfully-broken collectible quests in there!
