This is not intended as a guide for people familiar with Reincarnation, but rather to inform those who have heard about it and are wondering what it is all about. If there is a thread like this already that actually gives specifics on each, I apologize, I didn't find one with all the info and had to piece it together from various threads. Please correct me if any of my info is wrong.
There are 3 basic types of Reincarnation, True, Greater, and Lesser. On top of this, Greater and Lesser have 2 alternate options each. Here are the basics:
True Reincarnation: This is the type that is currently active on live servers as of this post. This involves buying a True Druidic Heart either with points in the store or with Epic raid tokens. When you True Reincarnate (TR for short), you start over at level 1, losing all your experience points, favor, quest flags, etc. You have to start at level 1 and cannot take advantage of Veteran status. You will gain extra abilities based on your previous class, and some extra feats and enhancements will be available to enhance this. You get fancy graphics around your name and your character will be slightly bigger than before. You can respec everything except your race and your name. Experience is elevated, so it will take approximately 50% longer to level to 20. You HAVE to be level 20 to do this. You can TR multiple times (3 is the limit right now, but there is a completionist feat out there already, suggesting it will be possible to TR upwards of 27 times, 3 per class).
Greater Reincarnation (GR for short): You can Greater Reincarnate at any level, it only requires a Greater Druidic Heart which must be bought from the store. Greater Reincarnation will upgrade a 28 point build to a 32 point build, so if you are already a 32 point build, you will not need to do a GR, but rather a Lesser reincarnation instead. Drow are already 32 point builds (4 points are locked into stats already), so you do not have this option with Drow either. With GR, you get to re-spec your character from scratch, starting with appearance, then choosing your stat points, and finally choosing each level, skill points, feats, etc. You cannot change race, alignment, or name. You build each level until you are back to your original level. You are not changing your class with GR, but you do have some options for changing 1 or 3 class levels, which can be done multiple times. You keep all your xp, favor, quest flags, items, and tomes get applied at the level you originally applied them when levelling your character originally.
GR+1 or +3: With a +1 or +3, you can change 1 or 3 classes respectively during the GR process. For every level, you have an associated class, and each level that you change the class from what you previously had counts as a class change. I will give a couple examples to clarify this:
1) You have a ftr2/wiz18 you want to change to rog2/wiz18. You originally started with wizard and added your fighter levels at 4 and 11. This time you want to start with rogue the first level, so you are changing your first level from wiz to rogue. That is your first change. You take levels 2 and 3 as wiz, which is not a change. At 4 you take wiz, which is a change from your previous fighter, leaving you with only 1 more change. You would need to take your second level of rogue at 11, changing the fighter level to rogue, and leaving the rest as wiz. If you took rogue at level 1 and 2 during the reincarnation process, you would only be able to change 1 level of fighter to wiz, and end up with a wiz17/rog2/ftr1.
2) You have a pure wizard you want to change to a wiz18/rog2. You would likely start with rogue at level 1 for the skill points, counting as one of your changes, then add the other level at any point before 20, counting as your second change.
At this time, there is no way to start over a GR or LR at any point, so if you forget which levels you took a class, you better guess well or you may have to wait a week and spend more points to try again.
Note: You CAN completely swap a class, but a level 20 wiz would take 7 weeks, one GR+3, and 6 LR+3's, costing just over $100 in points.
Lesser Reincarnation: Lesser Reincarnation is just like Greater Reincarnation, only you don't upgrade from 28 pt to 32 point. If you are already 32 point or a Drow, you can't use Greater and only have the option of using Lesser, but if you are 28 pt and use a Lesser Reincarnation, you will remain a 28 pt build. There are +1 and +3 Lesser Druidic Hearts available for swapping classes, and it works exactly the way the GR+1 and +3 does.
Prices as of now will be:
Lesser heart of wood = 895tp
+1 Lesser heart of wood = 1195tp
True heart of wood = 1295tp
+3 Lesser heart of wood = 1395tp
Greater heart of wood = 1495tp
+1 Greater heart of wood = 1795tp
+3 Greater heart of wood = 2495tp (Not sure on this)
So, for example, if you have a level 15 wizard and you read about the new pale master and only want to respec a bunch of feats and maybe move some points from Dex into Con, you would only need a Lesser Druidic Heart of Wood.
If, on the other hand, you have a 19 Pally, 1 Cleric that you want to change from a 28 pt build to a 32 point pure Pally, you would use a +1 Greater Druidic Heart of Wood, to upgrade from 28 to 32 and to change 1 class level.
I hope this helps for those people just looking for details on what Reincarnation is all about.
