Can a monk target himself with special "attacks" like Lifting The Veil and Restoring The Balance? The descriptions say ally (i.e. "Your meditations allow you to clear the vision of an ally" for Lifting The Veil), so it doesn't make it obvious whether that means it's self-targetable.

Yes. I've used remove curse on myself.

EDIT: Realized that this isn't exactly what your question was about, but it's still important info for a monk, and pretty close to what you were asking, so I'll leave it here.

The light finishers auto-default with you as the target, but they have an AoE application similar to and roughly the size of Haste, Bless, Prot. Against Evil, and so on.

For Aligning the Heavens in particular however, you may want to target your Healer/Arcane to make sure that they get it. Being close enough to get hit by it so you can keep an eye on the timer is a good thing, but getting it to the casters is more important.

Good tip Arel. Took me several levels before I found out I could target someone else in the group to center align the heavens on. Before that I kept running to them to cast it.

There was a time when they couldn't. But currently I believe they can.
