    Default ranger multi class

i have a level 18 ranger and im looking to mutli class since about 3 levels ago i noticed that the capstone doesnt really apply to me because i dont do alot of ranged combat. ive waited until im level 18 to considered splashing the 2 levels of whatever so i can get kensai 3 as soon as possible. so im just wondering what would be the best class to put 2 levels into and why.

I think you mean Tempest. But if you waited till thins point I'd go with either 2 fighter or 2 monk. Both will give you 2 more feats. Go monk if you have a high enough Wis for AC bonus, Fighter if not.

    Exclamation Wrong Forum

@Moderator: This is not the appropriate forum for this topic. Can we get this thread moved please?

It's hard to say but I think Fighter would be a better option if you just want 2 levels of non-ranger. You'll also gain a few more HP per level but at the cost of fewer skill points per level. You'll also probably gain a few weapon proficiencies. On the other hand, the class features of Monk that you'd gain would grant you some feat-like abilities.

Plus, you know your character best so you're the best one to judge which you think would work out better.

On a side note, I believe that the capstone achievement is for whichever class has the greatest # of levels when you reach 20. Meaning, if you're 11 ranger and 9 fighter, you'll get the ranger capstone. So if I remember right, you'll still get the ranger capstone even as 18 ranger and 2 of something else.

You sir, are wrong. Capstones are pure class.

I stand corrected. Can you show me a link or do I need to dig? I've been trying to find more info on this (hence why I said I was unsure in my post).

Mangloid, any thoughts to what the OP was asking? I've always played spell point burners so melee stuff is a touch fuzzy for me.

Going pure ranger would give you another favored enemy and an additional 2 damage per swing against FE

at this point methinks your just multiclassing with out a plan, always a bad idea.

there is no real reason for you to do so now, stay pure.

if you want a multiclass, plan it out from the beginning it will work out better..

and the ranger capstone, works with multi shot

The other thing to keep in mind, is that if they add more capstones in the future you will be locked out of them.

Open your enhancements window, select "unavailable", and find the capstone enhancement listed for you. Hover your mouse over it and you'll see its requirements, which include "Level 20 [class]".

If you've already multiclassed, I'm not sure you'll even see a capstone section, as when you're a pure class, I'm pretty sure you only see your class capstone, not those of other classes. If this is true, roll a new character just for the purpose of looking.

The reason capstones are only for pure class characters is multiclass characters have already received some benefit beyond the abilities of a pure class (or, at least, if they took a healthy multiclass path, they did). Capstones were added to provide some benefit to those choosing to stay pure (even though its sometimes arguable as to if they provide benefit).

and there is alot to be said for a 25% increase in bowfire rate. especially during manyshot, especially if you're hasted, and especially if you have the perfect bow vs whatever boss you face.

If, as the OP says, you don't do a lot of ranged combat, about the only thing that needs to be said for it is, "I don't use it much." FTR 2 would come with the option to get a haste boost for melee, +1 STR and a couple of feats, yeah? Surely that would be better for a melee character than some ranged perks he won't use.
