Bard Songs

ok after thinking about this for a while I relized that we are almost all bored as hell of the bard song's sound... so put it in the cash shop! iTunes amazon whatever but allow us to put our own songs for our bards. a buck or 2 per song but allow us to customize these bad boys and show our own style!

Sadly i think i'd actually buy different tunes to play when buffing, or even the ability to play a few just fo rplaying them sake

Instead of the "Inspire Courage" song, I wanna play We Are the Champions for my group!


Not only would it buff up the characters, it would buff up the players as well, since many of them would do a double-take at it!

You know I understand LOTRO, based on the same game engine, has a method of creating custom music.

"Feel Me Don't You" by DaDa -Ironskin warchant

"Walk" by Pantera - Inspire heroics - for the last line "No way punk"

"Bohemian Rhaposidy" by Queen - Inspire greatness

For inspire competence I would switch out the song depending upon the mood I'm in. Could be some Beatles, Kiss, Nine Inch Nails, Megadeath, Motzart, Debussy...ya never would know what you were getting here.

Probably would take to long to buff.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida would still be playing at the end of some quests and some of Motzarts sympnonies can last a half-hour.

Oh, my freaking god, no! I *sooooo* do not want to be listening to "songs people think are cool." It is always the people with the worst taste that are th most adamant about making you listen to it overt and over and over and over.

Yes to more individualization of the songs (don't use the same tune for multiple "songs")
Yes to giving us some choices for what to play (multiple options for tunes for Inspire Courage, etc)

But never, for the love of all that is holy allow people to upload their own music! That is, unless there is a big steaming option to not hear hear it!

You guys know we live in a world thats full of copyright restrictions? Nothing of this is remotely possible/legal for Turbine to do.

However I'd wish to tie a text talk lyric macro (with colors) to the song button, that would be nice, and not offending anyone.

How long after your Blacklisted OP for crappy taste in music by others will you be back asking for this to be removed?

that's why I said integrate w/ itunes or amazon ect...if you own the song and play it for friends it's the same as playing the music at a party for your friends. unless I'm mistaken itunes and amazon pay royalties

well not sure how your server is but I get invites on my bard more often than on my cleric...so being on somebodies blacklist will be a godsend

While the idea has some merit to it, it just can't happen. With the issues around Turbine/Atari, I honestly do not think Turbine is ready to partner up and start paying Amazon/iTunes.

I would much rather see this idea come to fruition along the lines the DEVs had for Music Prodigy originally.

I would seriously loose it the first time I hear Hanna Montanna or Brittney come from the Bard. On the other hand, would be nice to play nothing but Dead Milkmen's "Taking Retards to the Zoo" on my Bard as it seems to fit with today's PUGs.

While theortically possible, Its really not worth it, a project like this would be a *massive* coding work on the one hand, and a *massive* legaslative work on the other. Even as bard lover, every dollar invested in something like that I much rather would see new quest modules.

Just get your mp3 player and hold it to your mic. Or any bard to the hearth should use his/her natural voice on the mic eitherway.

However I'd really like if they recorded a few more standard tunes, at least a unique tune for every bard song. That sure is not too much to ask for.

when making a suggestion to a developer or coder, ask for the moon. from my experience as a professional (payed) beta tester you get better ideas when they talk you down than when you simply ask fort what you want. personally I would be fine with multiple instruments or picking from 10-15 preselected tavern chanteys. Face the fact that the devs only really come to this channel of the forums to laugh at us, and if they do happen to pick an idea somehow, they claim it was their idea first and will usually break it and implement it in a way that ticks most people off. but I stand by my music integration maybe also as a winamp extension so we can control our music in game easier...just a thought
