Take it from me, yes the Disciple of the Fist makes it well worth it.
Not only that but the passive +1 to damage (that can be aquired multiple times) is nice too.

TR'ing basically gives you a monks belt. 4 lvls higher, and +1 - 2 to damage (depending on 1-2 tr's) and more build points on an already MAD class, so yes. it is. totally.
