Which has better dps: TH Barb vs TWF Fighter?

Going to focus on one, both seem fun, going pure on both. Have a 12 fighter, halfling kensai that wields kopeshes and a 5 WF Barb wielding Falchion thats going to be a FB, which one of these classes does more melee dps? I believe fighter does with the haste boost, if she does by how much more is it on average?

From what I've heard, a fighter with haste boost does more burst DPS. Raging THF Barbs do less DPS that any other DPS build, but they can keep that DPS up, essentially, forever, or at least much, much longer than any other class.

Also, WF Barbs get the best 2HF enhancements that allow them to hit multiple enemies at once (using glancing blows) with special attacks, like trip, and weapon effects, like vorpal. This is another draw for them. They have more HP and DR, for one thing, as well as some extra damage using glancing blows.

Of course, 2WF fighters get their own unique advantages, including the obvious fighter advantages of more feats and faster attack speed (with haste boost and alacrity). TWF have more opportunities per second to hit with special attacks, as well as the the ability to have twice as many special attacks (two weapons versus one).

It's not a simple question of which has better DPS, of course, but which appeals to you more. Barbs obviously are better when several weaker enemies are grouped together and they can hit several at once, while fighters are better in a one-on-one situation with stronger foes because they can load all of their power on to the one target.

Sort of like how you would imagine the archetypes in real life, I suppose.

And don't forget DPS from Paladins or Rangers. They're fairly nifty and the ability to heal yourself without potions while you get to level 20 is a nice treat as well.

Edit: Although, given that this is the Fighter forum, I'd have to say that Fighters are the best DPS out there. That answer will never change... as long as you're asking in the Fighter forum.

It really depends on the quest. Ftr or barb, TWF will damage asingle mob more than THF. THF will likely do more overall damage if there are multiple mobs due to glancing blows.

They will both do good DPS, play what the class that most interests you.

I used the dps damage speadsheet calculator, and the 2 prestige classes are very well balanced. People will never agree on which on does more dps, but the general rule seems to be:



2HF Frenzy: Glancing blows destroy TWF DPS on multiple mobs
TWF Kensei: Better bursts and single target
