    Default Remember when?

    - A one round Shroud part 4 was an accomplishment?

    - Most of the party in Zawabi's Revenge would jump over the side?

    - All the congratulations tells after you lead the Reaver and stopped the doomsday clock... and your victory was announced to the entire server?

    - How we would plan our ransack timers to optimize for the +1 loot and xp weekend?

    - How awesome it was when you pulled your first +1 tome?

    - The first time you zoned into VoN 6?

    - Having a +4 stat item meant you were uber?

    - Killing the threnal giant when the level cap went up?

    Happy weekend everyone!

LOL very nice Ink... sadly I remember all of those.

    Also:
    - When vorpal triggered on any critical.
    - When fire shield clickies dropped on random loot... and everyone thought they were junk since they didn't do anything?
    - When, for a short time, there were 0 raids in the game?

That was a strategy at the time... was a safe spot down below and send up people back thru the portal thing to fight her... Casters hit by BB back then were pretty much dead... same went with most clerics... was time when only dwarves and WF had any toughness enhancements, also you only had four enhancements anyway so all casters and most clerics were dependant on ... well casting enhancements. Three typical ways of playing DQ2 back then ... the hide approach mentioned, the lone ranger (yes ranged based rangers could solo it) and if everyone in the party was strong enough the brute force all gang on her method and raise those who did not survive after she's dead.

There were several phases really. When it was first created, the lower level was flat and the lava was in between stepping stones. You could run through it full speed and "deep lava" didn't exist. And then they made it deeper...and then they made it "deep lava".

At those points we moved to a lower level area to hide in from Efreeti that were moved from the top level to the lower....plus spawns that would show up at the gate you used to get to the top. Often it was useful to have a character dead but on top of the platform to "spot".

They've changed so much on these too...the Gnolls weren't always Red Named enemies and cloudkill was a great way to knock them off. Scrolls ftw - back when you could buy them.

    How about when;
    - We had no portal system to travel between houses.

    - The market tent still existed.

    - There was a glowing yellow barrier in house K that prevented you from crossing over to the vault of night and kundarak bank.

    - Mithral full plate was something you heard somebody had once but weren't quite sure if they were telling the truth.

    - The sword of shadows was the hands down best dps weapon in the game.

    - There was no favor system, our enhancements were extremely limited, and builds were infinitely simpler.

    - The vampire in house p was ridiculously tough.

    - The giants barracks in threnal was the premier loot run and player uberness was measured by how quickly you could zerg it.

    - You could fall between the bridges in house K.

    - The jewelry vendors were in house p and the clothing vendors in house J.

    - 3 bag slots was the maximum and we had no weapon sets for quick switching.

    - there were no gem, ingredient, collectible bags.

And the hate tells you were recieving when someone decided to have fun and pulled the lever popping your name 6-7 times after you were out.

    Some others:

The Threnal South part3 runs for the chest.

Con damage working on bosses, killing them.

When you could use cometfall on the titan.

When Tempest Spine was the only raid, and the great times running it at cap of 10.

    - When Paralyzing weapons were actually conferring a "Hold Person" effect such that you were critting when things were paralyzed instead of normal hits like we have today.

The old raid loot system. The raid leader had to hand out a loot thingy to whoever won the roll, before the item could be pulled from the chest.

The old giant cave loot runs, which consisted of zerging in, popping the chest, and breaking party

Tempest Spine on elite. When overcoming the AC on the Drow Blackgaurd was hard. 8 toons around 1 lil gaurd, it sounding like bearings falling into a steel drum. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE EPIC VERSION OF THIS ONE!

Sweaty palms going into VoN 6.

Originally she used to come off the platform and you would fight her on the bottom.

Also back then fire prot was 100% fire protection for the duration so swimming in the lava was the norm

Yes and remember everyone never loaded resists once they had protection spells. Pf course the down side was sorcerers and bards could not switch spells once capped.
