You know that alone might make DT workable. At least that way you can never get something worse.

Good idea. It has to still eat the rune, naturally....

I don't mind grinding for the runes to keep trying for something I really want. But if I can have something that is OK while I keep grinding, I'm good with that. But as it stands, it just irritates me far too much so I don't even bother with it. And who wants to be irritated when playing a game??? Not me!

I suggest buying a second set of armor after you get your first one usefull. Then grind for exactly what you want. no worries about getting something worse then.

This should be the guiding light of game design.

Cedrica's suggesting that when the change is shown, you'll have the option of reversing it.

Basically she is asking for a dialogue box to accept the new enhancement or reject, with the rune consumed in both cases. That way it is not a much of a lottery

example you place rune and armor and crunch

dialogue appears with 2 choices and the following text

The machine has determined this rune to be "+6 wisdom" you have the following 2 choices

    1.Apply rune to armor
2.reject rune and let it be consumed by the machine

The suggested change is a dialogue prompt saying "do you accept this change Y/N"

That way if you have something decent on your armor but you're going for perfection, it won't take away the decent and replace with terrible.

For instance my +2 insight bonus to wisdom wouldn't have been replaced with wizardry 6 on a melee toon.

you can achieve part of this goal by working on multiple sets of dragontouched armor simultaneously - once you're relatively happy with a rune, then start working on another set. Getting draconic runes to buy another set of armor is cheap now that they drop in end chests as well as explorer areas. Slowly work your way up by making new armor sets until you get the set you want.

    Great Idea!

but it is so simple there has to be a reason for it not to be implemented already

People actually craft DT armor? I thought it was a joke. A bad joke. Maybe. But that seems to be par for the course.

It is really just a byproduct of running the Sorjek quests for the XP. Might as well get some use out of the runes you pick up while you are doing that.

Who would run those quests for xp? Favor, maybe, but you don't run them a dozen times for favor.

As for the armor, I made one set on my sorc; 20% striding, empower healing, and tharne's wrath.

I will never run those quests again.

The problem, at least in my case, is that there may be more than one attribute per tier that I could use. Some of the attributes are good enough to keep while trying to get the one or two I really want. It sucks whenever i get an attribute that clearly sucks compared to the one I had before, even if the one before wasn't the exact attribute I wanted. It can make a set of armor actually go backward in usefuleness the more times you try to add to it. I may just settle for the other attribute, but as it is now, I don't even bother trying.

As stated above, Monastery is a nice XP run, particularly if you get several of the optional names spawned. Kobold also has some nice XP. The optionals alone are worth about 2k xp each, and don't take long to do. I really don't remember the XP in Prey, but you're only talking about a 15 minute quest max there. Since I'm running those for XP and the favor as well, it doesn't take much extra effort to run one Sorjek to get the armor. If you get something halfway decent, use it. If not, you still got the XP and favor.
