Default ShinobiMage, a pet project just for fun

Geared out properly, I think this would be an extremely fun toon to play.
Some of the enhancements are likely to be changed to add some fire spec. I just kind of threw them together quickly. I'm also considering dropping Dex a bit, raising Str, and going Acrobat.
Many of you will scoff at how many ranks I have in tumble by the end, but I've found that a properly twitched tumble is quite useful, and fits into my playstyle.

Since this has received a few looks, but no comments, I thought I'd give an update.
First I'll say that as this is an alt, I log him in less often that some other toons.
This toon is every bit as gear dependent as I originally assumed he'd be, but he's MUCH more fun than I anticipated.

The idea behind this was to take the squishy 13 rogue / 7 wizard build and add a little survivability to it.
    Loss:
    *2d6 sneak attack
    *a rogue special ability
    Gain:
    *2 feats
    *better saves
    *more HP
*Fists of Light and it's associated finishers

The loss of the 2d6 sneak attack was/is much less pronounced than I expected it to be because the attack rate of handwraps makes up for it.
At cap, he'll have only 8 hit points less than a pure rogue, so mixing in some wiz doesn't hurt his survivability much overall. In fact, mixing in the wiz has only added to his survivability so far via buffs and damage mitigation.

I changed the leveling order slightly, and am currently at level 12 (3monk/3rogue/6wiz). I also swapped the order of ITWF and PA at 12 & 15 respectively. Has performed well in the Sands. Has performed well in what little time I've spent in Gianthold. Has performed well in the Orchard.
Stay AWAY from beholders! Debuffs are a killer! :O
Even at level 12, running Crucible on hard (lvl 15) has seen little need for DP clickies yet. Trapskills are only exceeded by a few select non-trap-focused builds. Trap focused builds will obviously outshine ShinobiMage in this regard.

Very few people even notice/remember that he has a wiz icon after a few minutes in a quest. I hear more praise about how it's nice to finally see a monk who uses their finishers often than I do about seeing a competent battlecaster, which tells me that I'm playing him properly in the manner I originally intended and envisioned.

All in all, the combination of arcane buffs and dex based monk makes for a good AC, even without uber gear yet. The attack speed of handwraps makes up for the small loss of sneak attack damage per strike (He's generally in the top 2 in kill count, never casting an offensive spell). The combination of FoL, dragonmarks, good AC, and arcane buffs makes for a toon that is much more survivable than I originally envisioned, so I'm hopeful for later quests.

I'll update again eventually with my progress if I get any comments or questions this time around.

    Improved Evasion.

Beholders: nuk'em with Wall of Fire. Or start with Ray of Enfeeble and continue with Weaken weapon. Works good, if you can live long enough. If its Red Named, then your dead

DP clickies: yes, as long as you are carefull with Power Attack, you need them only on Elite. Normal/hard is not a big problem. Get some Destruction (Improved) weapon and there should be no problems at all.

Buffs: as Wiz7 you can only cast 20/- elemental resists. Not a big problem with Evasion, but you could (if you want), combine Monks Clever Monkey and Rogues elemental resists enhancements. It stacks with spells.

It's going to be a toss up between Improved Evasion and Crippling Strike once the time comes. It will all depend on how things are going at 20 for him.

Nuking Beholders: At the time of that last post (I mentioned his level) he didn't have FW, so that wasn't an option. I've since spent a ton on AH getting him geared up a bit so that his defenses rely on magic a bit less. Now he even has a decent beholder AC.

DP clickies: Haven't needed them much at all yet, even at level on elite. I'm blue bar'ing level 15 right now. As soon as I take the level I'll have power attack, and I assume I'll need the DPs at that point.
    Great.
One MORE clicky to mix in....

As far as clicks go, this is by FAR the most interactive and difficult toon that I've ever played. Monks have it easy compared to me. But this is actually the fun of the build IMO. There are ALWAYS multiple options to choose from and between ki strikes, rogue boosts, short term buffs like displacement, finishers, swapping to the right wraps, deciding it's time to lay down a FW or a Web, throwing a heal out at someone in trouble.... my fingers are constantly working.
Adding in the use of DP shortly will make this even more pronounced.

    edit:
Oh yeah, and at level 14, running this *gimp* around the Orchard with a 19th level Sorc's stone in my backpack is TONS of fun!

Proof (as if we needed any) that the guy behind the keyboard is more far important than the character in the game. This is why I love DDO.

Make no mistake, I'm NOT claiming that this is some sort of uber-build. Not even close.
My *gimp* comment wasn't made sarcasticly. And I'm well aware that he's going to suck in end game and epic.
But he's still shining for the moment, so I'm riding it.
