Question Which Sub might be best?

K newb in DDO land atm. Saw an Ad for F2P on G4 on Demand and thought I'd give it a go. I'm very much liking the game so far and starting to think about what I should/might do moving forward. Here's a brief background.

Played LotRO, Warhammer, WoW, and yes EQ & EQ2 many many years ago. I like MMOs a great deal but, for one reason or another, strayed away from my previous ones. Now that I'm playing DDO, free account so far, and liking it so much, I'm wondering what I should consider as a next step. I see I can buy TPs from the store and buy a ton of different add-on packs, extra races, and the like. That will give me Premium status, although thus far I'm really not seeing what that does for me since I'm not prone to Alt-itis and so far have lived quite comfortably on 2 chars/server. I'm really not sure about VIP, although the benefits seem, as one would expect, the best. Problem I have there is the monthly fee.

In my other games I went with game cards mostly. In the prior games it was, to be honest, sometimes financial, while other times it was just losing interest in the game that caused me to not play, sometimes for a couple months at a time. Be that as it may what I'm trying to decide now, re: DDO, is whether or not it makes sense to just buy TPs on occasion, add some extra packs, etc., and plug along like that or whether or not it makes more sense to just bite the bullet and try going VIP for awhile.

Anyone gone through a similar exercise who wouldn't mind sharing your reasoning, what you ended up deciding, etc.?

    Much appreciated. Thx.

If you often take a month or three off, Premium is the way to go. Don't spend points on anything other than adventure packs, unlocking 32 point builds, Warforged, Monks and Favored Souls (not saying you need the last four, but they aren't bad uses of points; don't buy other things until you've played for a while).

My sig has a link to reviews of all the adventure packs (save the newest one).
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Greatly appreciate your input and feedback. I was leaning in that direction going with the thought if I really really get into it in 2-3 or so months I could always go the VIP route. Again thx and safe travels.
